With his parents gone, custody of Jonah fell to his grandparents. But as Ethan dropped him off at the old family home, Jonah hesitated, clinging to Ethan’s sleeve, his eyes filling with tears.
“Uncle Ethan, Mom said if I ever escaped, I should live with you.”
Ethan was skeptical, but Jonah continued, saying something that shattered Ethan’s composure.
“She said if you didn’t believe me, I should tell you…you did well, and thank you.”
Ethan’s tears fell, and he took Jonah home to raise as his own.
Watching from above, I felt a warm glow. The system then announced, “The portal is ready; you can go home.”
As I moved toward the light, the system asked,
“Host, our scans show no soul anomaly. Did you really save Jonah? How?”
