I only wanted to wait quietly for the moment I could leave this world.
But Jason Danish wouldn’t let me have peace, and neither would Sophia Lockwood,
Back when they started their relationship, they disregarded my outbursts and pain.
Now that I was silent, they stirred up chaos instead.
Jason held my hand, gently rubbing it as if to soothe the sting from earlier.
“Sophia, I’ve already given you everything I promised. Why are you still making a scene?”
Jason sounded exactly like he did when he tried to persuade me to divorce him. The only difference was the person he was speaking to.
Sophia stared at him in disbelief, her eyes reddening.
“Jason, we have a child together. You’ve married me. You’re supposed to protect me–not her! Not Chloe Hartwell!”
Her trembling finger pointed at me, her voice shaking with anger.
In just a few months, we had switched places.
I calmly pulled my hand from Jason’s grip and nudged him toward Sophia.
“Take him with you. Stop bothering me.”
Jason suddenly flung my hand away, his expression growing cold with a hint of disappointment.
“Chloe Hartwell, you don’t have to push me away. I’m not leaving.”
Then he turned to Grace Lockwood, his foster mother.
“Mom, I know you raised me and worked hard to care for me. Rest assured, I’ll take care of Sophia–but not as her husband, only as her
brother.”
“And the child? It’s hers alone. You don’t need to worry about her being alone anymore.”
What kind of new breed of scumbag was this?
Grace’s face went pale. She clutched her chest, struggling to breathe. Trembling, she raised her hand and slapped Jason across the face.
“Ungrateful brat.”
“How did I end up raising someone like you? I asked you to take care of Sophia, and this is how you do it? You’re going to make her a single
mother?”
“If you treat her like this while I’m still alive, what will happen to her after I die?”
Grace had been best friends with Jason’s biological mother.
When his parents died, Grace took him in.
But “taking him in” was really just living off his parents‘ life insurance while begrudgingly keeping him around.
Even so, Jason had always been grateful.
He handled almost all the household chores from a young age.
He received little financial support, but still, he held onto his gratitude.
Now, Jason refused to give in. Grace, enraged, clutched her chest and fainted.
Sophia suddenly doubled over in pain, clutching her belly.

What had been a quiet evening turned into chaos.
I accompanied Sophia to the OB–GYN, while Jason rushed Grace to the Lakewood Medical Center emergency room.
Sitting in the hospital hallway, my body suddenly felt heavy, drained of all strength.
The familiar voice of the Zenith Interface echoed in my mind.
“Host, your departure is scheduled for midnight tonight. From now until then, your senses will gradually fade, until your life completely disappears.”
My mind emptied. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was 11:50 PM.
In ten minutes, I would leave this world.
At the end of the hallway stood Jason, leaning helplessly against the wall, his face blank with despair.
I leaned back in my chair, finding the most comfortable position I could.
The sounds around me faded, and darkness clouded my vision.
I lowered my head quietly, waiting for the last traces of sensation to vanish.
“Congratulations, Host. You have successfully left your physical body. Awaiting transport to your original world.”
When I opened my eyes again, I was still in the hospital, but now as a spirit.
I watched the door to the emergency room swing open. Jason immediately approached the doctor, frantic for answers.
