The screen clearly showed Jessica herself putting the wallet in there.
Her face instantly went white, then she glared at me furiously, screaming: “Wren Fisher, you knew all along! You fucking dared to play me!”
Jessica screamed and lunged at me, trying to slap me.
The classroom erupted into chaos, some trying to break up the fight, others gossiping.
Comments flew around: “Isn’t Jessica’s family pretty rich? What’s the point of framing someone just to apologize? That’s low.”
“Good thing I didn’t start cursing. That girl’s on a scholarship too. Jessica’s methods are really despicable!”
Jessica was held back, and a pair of strong hands pulled me out of the crowd.
Rowan smiled sunnily: “I’m not too late, am I? I saw the livestream and ran over. You’re not hurt, are you?”
I shook my head and asked: “What livestream?”
Apparently, when Jessica came to accuse me of stealing her wallet, she had started a livestream online.
She just hadn’t expected me to be prepared, completely turning the tables on her.
But this wasn’t over yet. I was waiting for the heat to build to a crescendo before dropping the real bombshell.
What surprised me was that William didn’t go to Jessica, but kept trying to find me.
When he saw me with Rowan, his face turned particularly ugly.
“Wren Fisher, did I say we were broken up? What are you doing with another guy? Come here.”
I shook my head: “I’m not your dog, coming when you call.
“Besides, I already told you we’re over.

“But I didn’t agree.”
William rarely softened his voice: “Please come here? I was wrong about Jessica’s thing. I shouldn’t have doubted you.”
“You didn’t just doubt me. You believed Jessica more. In your eyes, am I the type to steal just because I’m poor?”
He opened his mouth but said nothing. I knew I’d guessed right.
But I felt very calm inside. In my past life, I’d truly liked him. When they called me an ugly duckling, I’d cried like an idiot.
I turned and left, with Rowan following half a step behind.
“So you really broke up? I always knew he wasn’t a good guy.”
“By the way, are you free tonight? I’d like to treat you to dinner.”
He grinned goofily, like a big golden retriever.
But I didn’t answer. I didn’t have the right to date anyone yet.
That night, coming back from self–study, William was waiting for me outside the dorm building.
He was holding a bouquet of pure white lilies, looking like a perfect gentleman.
I’d once casually mentioned liking lilies, and I didn’t expect him to remember. But I felt no ripples in my heart.
I pretended not to see him and walked towards the building, but William blocked my path.
“Can we talk? Don’t you like lilies? These are for you!”
I didn’t take them: “Are you here to plead Jessica’s case? I won’t delete that video, and it’s spread too far now. I couldn’t delete it all even if I
wanted to.”
Not to mention Jessica had been livestreaming at the time. It was all over the internet now, spreading from ten to a hundred to thousands. It
would be hard to erase.
But William shrugged it off: “Her business has nothing to do with me. I’m just here to see you.”
He pursed his lips, saying softly: “After being apart from you, I realized I truly like you. When you don’t talk to me, I feel uneasy!”
“So what does that have to do with me? I don’t like you anymore.”
I coldly brushed past him back to the dorm, not seeing his face slowly turn pale.
He could like me only because I’d played my part well.
After my experience in the previous life, I’d figured out the type of girl he liked.
Pitiful yet cute, someone who inspired protective instincts.
But that wasn’t the real me.
I’d tested out of my poor little village. What I wanted was to change my fate and my family’s fate through my own efforts.
In my past life, my biggest mistake was getting mixed up in these rich kids‘ games.
This time, I was determined to make up for that regret.
