Chapter 6
I roll my eyes so hard they could get stuck. “If you’re so desperate to be a great–grandma,
why don’t you just let him adopt you? Straight
to the top.”
With that, I turn around and go back to my desk, ignoring my mom’s furious stomping.
Seeing I’m not giving in, my mom storms over to my desk and slams a wedding invitation
down.
She lifts her chin, smug. “Chloe’s getting
married next month, and you have to be
there. If it wasn’t for her wanting you to
witness her happiness, I wouldn’t want you
embarrassing us.”
“My Chloe is amazing, marrying into money.
Some people will never even get close to that
kind of life.”
I take the invitation and put it in my drawer,
smiling. “I’ll be there for sure.”
Before leaving, my mom brags about how
important Chloe is to Mark’s family.
“Chloe said she wants to give Mark lots of
kids after the wedding, so his parents said
they’ll give Chloe half a million dollars for
every kid.”
Seeing I’m not impressed, my mom stomps
her foot and leaves.
Of course I’m going to be there. After all, this
wedding is the start of Chloe’s nightn

wedding is the start of Chloe’s nightmare.
Before stepping into the house, I turn on my phone’s live stream. Seeing the flood of hate from the viewers, I put a finger to my lips to
quiet them.
“You’ll know who the real copycat is soon
enough.”
When I was little, every time I took the blame
for Chloe, she would brag about how much
Mom loved her.
When I got tired of it and hit her, she’d cry to
Mom, wanting her to take her side.
Even now, that habit hasn’t changed.
Sure enough, as soon as I get home, Chloe
can’t wait to brag about how sweet and
gentle Mark is.
Then, she brings up how good my mom has
always been to her.
“Mom really went off when I just mentioned
you slandering me on social media. You’ve
never experienced that, have you, sis? How
sad.”
I smile at her, with a hint of malice. “If Mark’s
family finds out you plagiarized, will they call
off the wedding right away?”
Chloe’s face is normal, but her tone is full of
sarcasm.
“So what if I plagiarized? Who’s going to
believe you?”

“Those netizens are dumb, they can’t tell the
difference, they’ll believe any fake evidence.”
“You’re destined to be my stepping stone,
sis.”
