Chapter 8
I didn’t take his words seriously. But three days later, I saw Antonio and Bailey in legal news.
“Recently, Antonio Kaufman, a famous entrepreneur in the city, stabbed a female with a knife. The victim’s belly was cut open cruelly, and the womb was taken out. Now, Antonio Kaufman has been arrested.”
The pictures in the news were covered in mosaic. But the cruel scene still startled me.
I recalled what Antonio said to me that day. He said he would compensate me with a womb. It turned out this was what he meant.
It was a big case. After Antonio went to jail, he requested to see me hysterically. I also had something to say to him. So, I agreed to visit him.
On the way to the meeting room, the prison officer told me to be careful.
“He’s mental, crying and laughing every day. He keeps saying that he will give your womb back to you. Please keep your distance from him to ensure your safety.”
I pushed open the door. Antonio was already inside.
He was still wearing handcuffs and anklets. Two prison officers were standing behind him, ready to take him down at any time.
Seeing me, Antonio shivered in excitement.
“Grace, hello! Are you here to pick me up?
“I cut off that bitch Bailey’s womb. She said she didn’t want to get

pregnant, so she wouldn’t need a womb!”
I didn’t say anything. Antonio covered his face and cried.
“Grace, it was my fault. I should have married you in the beginning. I should have known how bitchy Bailey was. Please scold me and hit me. Please let me compensate you.”
Both my expression and my words were cold.
“You forged documents and tricked me into surrogacy for Bailey. I got the evidence and handed it to the police.
“Also, you stole public funds to bribe hospitals abroad to help you with the surrogacy. Your position in the company has been removed by the board. Your family announced in public to cut ties with you. They won’t help you with getting a lawyer.”
At first, Antonio looked expectant. But soon, he was desperate.
I was about to leave. He called out my name in a hoarse voice.
“Grace! Don’t tell me you have no feelings for me! I don’t believe it!
“I know you don’t love me. But don’t you hate me?”
He was so stupid and naive. Until this moment, he still thought he was charming, overestimating himself.
“You killed someone on the street cruelly. What you did put the whole city in fear. Don’t you know you will get a death sentence?
“What feelings should I have for a dead body?”
When I finished speaking, the door of the meeting room opened. The golden sunshine poured in.
After I left, the steel door closed immediately
Soon, I heard from the prison that Antonio killed himself with a sharpened toothbrush handle
Before he died, he used his blood to write “sorry” all over the walls
But I wasn’t interested in looking.
