I calmly looked at Ethan, my voice tinged with coldness. “As you wished, the child is gone.”
Ethan stood there, dumbfounded, as if he couldn’t accept this reality.
Brandon was incredulous. “How could this happen? Rachel, what’s going on with Molly?”
My best friend Rachel looked at Brandon with disdain. “What’s going on? Aren’t you a medical genius? Can’t you see how weak Molly is right now?” “This child could have been saved! I called you so many times, begging you to help Molly. But what were you doing?”

Rachel pointed at the cat in Yvonne’s arms. “You wouldn’t save your own family’s bloodline, but you’d play vet for an animal!”
Brandon’s face turned deathly pale, and he nearly lost his balance.
Seeing this, Yvonne became anxious and hurried to comfort the two brothers.
“Brandon, you can’t be blamed for this. How could you have known that Molly would actually harm the child to force Ethan’s hand?”
Yvonne’s words snapped Brandon and Ethan back

“Molly, how could you be so cruel! Our child was over seven months along, already fully formed. Just because of your suspicions, you deliberately got
rid of our child!”
“That was a life! You knew that saving lives was s my life’s pursuit, yet you used this extreme method to get back at me. Do you hate me that much?”
Ethan looked as if the sky had fallen. His eyes were red, and he was completely devastated.
“Not only did you kill our child to get back at me, but you’re also using the miscarriage to make my brother feel guilty. Your scheming is so evil!”
“You’ve become a stranger to me. I feel like I don’t even know you anymore!”
Ethan’s accusations continued relentlessly as if I were the worst criminal in history.
Yvonne lowered her head pitifully, speaking in an affected manner, “I’m sorry, Ethan. I had no idea Molly’s hostility towar
me was so intense.”
Seeing Yvonne on the verge of tears, Ethan comforted her, “How could anyone blame someone as kind as you? You’re so loving,
animals.”
Rachel couldn’t hold back any longer. She rushed forward and slapped Yvonne hard across the face.
“You conniving bitch! These two scumbags might fall for your act, but don’t you dare sicken me and Molly with it!”
Ethan instinctively shielded Yvonne behind him, while Brandon stepped forward and grabbed Rachel’s hand.
“Rachel, have you gone mad? Slapping people in the face – is this how your mother raised you?”
The words that slipped out of Brandon’s mouth struck Rachel’s deepest wound.
even towards small
Rachel was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. Her parents had passed away when she was young, and their absence had always been a sore spot in her heart.
As soon as he said it, Brandon realized he had misspoken. But his strong sense of righteousness wouldn’t allow him to apologize at that moment.
Rachel let out a bitter laugh. “That’s right, I have no manners. Not like you and your brother – you’re so well–mannered! Married, yet entangled with
other women.”
“Ethan’s wife nearly dies in a fire, and he doesn’t go to save her, but rushes to save a cat instead!”
“You talk about saving lives, but when there’s actually a life hanging in the balance, you’re busy examining a cat’s tail!”
“You two hypocrites with your false pretenses deserve a scheming woman like Yvonne! The three of you should be locked away together so you can’t harm anyone else!”
Brandon was left speechless. Rachel shook off his hand and, still fuming, slapped him hard across the face.
“I have no mother, no upbringing, and I just love slapping people. If you’ve got the guts, slap me back!”
Brandon had never seen Rachel like this before. At that moment, he felt more panicked than when he had received the divorce certificate.
“Rachel, I didn’t mean-”
Rachel raised her hand, cutting off Brandon. “Enough, Brandon. I don’t want to hear your nonsense. I need to accompany Molly to the cemetery.”
Rachel supported me as we prepared to leave.
Suddenly, Ethan blocked our path. His eyes were bloodshot as he looked at me with grief. “Where is the funeral being held? As the father, I should see
him off.
I asked him back, utterly perplexed, “Why?”
Faced with Ethan’s stunned expression, I let out a soft chuckle and spoke quietly.
“For all the pregnancy check–ups, I went to the hospital alone. For prenatal yoga classes, I attended by myself. Even when Yvonne’s cat scratched me, I went to the hospital alone.”
“You merely provided a sperm, didn’t you? I know you’re busy with work, but you had time to deliver a cat’s kittens and celebrate with Yvonne. When I begged you to come save me, for the sake of her cat, you ignored me!”
“During those three days in the hospital, I kept thinking that if you could just show up once, even for a brief visit, it would be enough. But where were you? You, the tireless hero, took three days off to accompany Yvonne to get the cat’s tail treated.”

“Your son wasn’t even worth as much as a cat’s tail to you, and now you’re acting like a good father. Don’t you find that ridiculous?”
“Moreover, my child – you’re the one who killed him. You and Yvonne are both murderers!”
With each sentence, the light in Ethan’s eyes dimmed a little more. By the end, he could barely stand.
He realized that, without even noticing, he had done so many things to wrong me.
Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, Yvonne immediately defended herself, “You’re talking nonsense! You killed your own child with your reckless behavior. Ethan and I are the victims here!”
Ethan snapped back to reality as if he had finally grasped a lifeline.
“Molly, I admit I’ve been an unqualified husband. You can blame me, but please don’t take it out on Yvonne. This has nothing to do with her. She’s innocent.”
I looked at them coldly. “Innocent? Ethan, I was locked in the room by Yvonne. If it weren’t for her, even if there was a fire upstairs, I could have escaped in time!”
Ethan frowned, his voice filled with sorrow. “Molly, I know you’re upset about losing the baby, but please stop slandering Yvonne. And what’s this about a fire? You being locked in a room? It’s absurd. I’m the fire chief – if there had been a fire anywhere, wouldn’t I have known about it?”
“Besides, at that time, Yvonne was looking for her cat. She couldn’t have locked your door.”
Ethan sighed, feeling that I was being obstinate and fixating on Yvonne.
He looked at Yvonne apologetically. “Yvonne, I’m sorry. I apologize on her behalf. I hope you won’t take offense.”
Yvonne shook her head magnanimously. “Ethan, it’s okay if I suffer a little injustice.”
I found their behavior disgusting and pulled Rachel away to leave immediately.
