CHAPTER 19
Amara’s POV
Before I could respond, Matteo stood, pulling me firmly against him as his arm wrapped around my waist, possessive, protective.
“She’s not going anywhere,” Matteo said, deadly calm. “She’s mine now, Moretti. And unlike you, I know how to value what I have.”
Luca’s eyes burned with fury as Matteo turned me toward him. I barely had time to process what was happening before
Matteo’s lips were on mine.
Matteo’s hand moved to the small of my back, pulling me flush against him, his other hand cradling the side of my face with a firm yet gentle grip. His lips crushed against mine, hot and demanding, leaving no room for protest or hesitation. It wasn’t gentle; it was fire meeting

gasoline, raw and unapologetic.
My breath hitched, my mind short circuiting at the sheer intensity of it. For a moment, I froze, the shock of it paralyzing me. This was not a kiss meant to comfort
or soothe – it was meant to claim, to dominate, to make a statement that would sear itself into anyone watching.
And it did.
Something in me cracked wide open. Maybe it was the frustration, the tension, or the undeniable chemistry we had danced around for weeks. Whatever it was, it surged to the surface, and I gave in. My hands shot up, fisting in the fabric of his suit jacket, yanking him closer as I kissed him back with equal fervor.
Matteo growled low in his throat, a primal sound that sent a shiver down my spine. His fingers tightened on my waist, almost bruising, while his lips moved against mine . leaving no corner of me untouched. He
tilted his head, deepening the kiss, and I

felt his teeth graze my bottom lip before he bit down just enough to send a shockwave through me.
A soft gasp escaped me, but he did not concede. His tongue slid against mine, tangling in a dance that was more a battle than anything else. Heat exploded in my chest, racing through my veins as I poured every ounce of pent up emotion anger, betrayal, defiance – into the kiss. It was liberating.
Time ceased to exist. The room, the lingering tension, the world outside – it all faded. There was only him, the
overwhelming sensation of being
completely consumed by Matteo Vitale.
When he finally pulled back, it wasn’t because either of us wanted to. It was because breathing had become an undeniable necessity. Matteo rested his forehead against mine, his chest heaving, his hands still gripping me as though he had no intention of letting go.

CHAPTER 19
I barely had a second to catch my breath
before I saw Luca.
His expression was a burst of fury, betrayal, and disbelief, his fists clenched so tightly I thought he might break something. His dark eyes were locked on me, wild with unspoken accusations and a pain so raw it sent a chill down my spine.
“You” II regret this,” he snarled before storming out, slamming the door behind him.
The room fell silent, and my fingers were still tangled in Matteo‘ s jacket, his hand lingered on my waist as if he had not yet decided to let go.
“What the hell was that?” I demanded as I shoved against his chest to create some distance.
Matteo’s lips curled into that infuriating smirk of his, though his breathing had not quite evened out yet. “A message,” he said simply, as if that explained everything.

My heart was still pounding with my lips tingling from the kiss. “You‘ re insane,” I muttered, but I could not quite summon the conviction I needed to make it sting.
Matteo leaned closer, his voice dropping to a low murmur only I could hear. “You kissed me back, cara mia. That wasn’t insanity. That was honesty.”
His words left me speechless, and my mind was a mess of emotions I could not begin to untangle. I wanted to argue, to wipe that smug expression off his face, but the truth lodged itself in my throat.
Because he was right. I kissed him back. And for a moment, I hadn‘ t wanted it to
end.
