CHAPTER 7
Amara s POV
“This is none of your business.
now, Luca. Go back to your bitch,” I threw back, making sure that every word was laced with venom to make him feel even a drop from the pain they had caused me.
His grip tightened, the mention of Matteo’s name igniting something dangerous in his eyes. I knew Luca, he was a man of huge pride. He would never want any man to have what he had, much more the wife he once had – me, especially since I was taken by a rival he so despised.
“Don’t test me, Amara,” he warned but I was not threatened, and I stood my ground. I did not want to go back to that place anymore and watch him and his mistress trample over my dignity, even if I did still have feelings for him – such a thing that was too difficult to forget since I had loved him for several years, only to end

up getting betrayed.
I struggled harder, slamming my fists against his chest. “You can’t control me, Luca!”
“You‘ ve always been mine,” he growled, backing me into the wall with such force that the impact stole my breath. “And you always will be.”
“You‘ re wrong,” I shot back, glaring up at him even as fear coiled in
my stomach. He was able to aim the gun at me in the cabin, he had squeezed my neck and threatened to kill me for his mistress. Right here, what would stop him from finally taking my life? Nothing.
However, I still refuse to submit.
“I don‘ t belong to anyone. Least of all, you,” I hissed.
For a moment, he simply stared at me, his breathing ragged and his jaw clenched tight. Then his expression shifted and darkened, and before I could react, he

grabbed my face, his lips crashing against mine in a bruising, possessive kiss.
I struggled, turning my head and shoving at him with all the strength I could muster, but it was not enough. The familiar pull of his kiss was a cruel reminder of what we once had, a fleeting memory drowned in betrayal and lies. I would have relished in his touch, but… his mere presence reminded me of him and Casey in the cabin and the sonogram left on his desk.
A tear slipped down my cheek as rage and heartbreak collided. I broke the kiss and shoved him back with enough force to put distance between us.
“Don’t you dare touch me again!” I spat.
“What’s wrong? Isn‘ t this what you wanted? To be with me again?” He challenged..
“No,” I said firmly, and fought myself from breaking. “What I want is for you to leave.”
He frowned, and I could vividly see the

frustration in his eyes as he tugged my arm and demanded, “Let’s go home.”
But as he turned around, he froze.
Matteo stood a few feet away with a gun aimed directly at Luca’s head. He looked calm and collected, but his eyes burned with cold fury as he spoke.
“Where do you think you‘ re taking my wife?”
Luca did not release me, but his grip faltered. “She is not yet your wife,” he hissed.
And Matteo smirked, “She is… She’s mine now, so take your hands off her or I’ll put a bullet in your head.”
Luca’s grip tightened and I winced, Matteo stepping closer in response as he warned Luca. “Let her go, now.”
