Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Tiana looked coldly at Simon and said, “Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?”
Simon was taken aback. She had never looked at him like that before, with such a cold and careless gaze, as if he were a trivial object.
In his memory, Tiana had always been proud, willful, and bright, a bit like a princess. But he could always soothe her quickly when she was mad at him. However, the way she was now made him feel strange and terrified. Obviously, his not attending the engagement ceremony had truly hurt her feelings.
“Tia, when you walked in, my heart raced to 110. When Jocelyn walked in, it was normal, with no acceleration at all. Doesn’t that prove I don’t feel anything for her?” he said.
Suddenly, Tiana recalled what Enoch had said. His first impression of her made his heart rate reach 120, while the man she had loved for over a decade only managed to raise his heart rate to 110. She found it ironic.
“Simon, I’ll say it again. Our relationship is over. I can’t just come back to you like before because you said some nice words. Who I choose to be with is none of your business; you have no right to control me!” With a forceful push, she was ready to leave.
But in the next second, Simon held her from behind. He turned her around, gripping her wrist firmly, and pulled her close, desperately trying to kiss her. But before he could reach her, she forcefully pushed him away.
She slapped him hard across the face. “How many times do I have to tell you? I’m married-
Before she could finish, she heard his cold, mocking laughter. “You don’t need to use such lies to brush me off. Which man in Novavista would dare to marry you?”
Veins bulged on Simon’s forehead, and his eyes were filled with a bone–chilling coldness. “Who the hell doesn’t know you are my woman?”
The name Enoch almost slipped from Tiana’s lips. But when she saw Simon’s chilling and furious gaze, she froze.
Enoch was a mere bodyguard; if Simon found out he had married her, he wouldn’t easily let him go. She decided to keep Enoch a secret since there was no need to get him into trouble.
Tiana looked at Simon with an icy gaze, speaking slowly and firmly. “I am not anyone’s possession. Simon, in the ten years we’ve been together, I’ve never done anything wrong to you. Since our relationship is over, let’s end it decisively and avoid this endless torment. Otherwise, I will lose all my respect for you!”
Having said that, she didn’t give Simon a chance to respond and left through the door. Watching her departing figure, Simon clenched his fists tightly. There was an inexplicable panic in his heart. He felt as if he might lose her forever.
But they had been together for ten years; they had parted before but reconciled. Simon thought the situation was just a bit more serious this time, and he believed that she would eventually come back to him.
Simon closed his eyes and told himself not to panic. After loving me for so many years, Tiana could never love another man in this lifetime. She could only be mine! he thought.
In the backyard, Jocelyn caught up with Enoch, who looked tall and aloof. “Enoch!”
Enoch was smoking in the garden. He held the cigarette between his thin lips, ignoring the approaching Jocelyn.

Feeling ignored. Jocelyn was both humiliated and infuriated, thinking, ‘Does he have to pretend to be so indifferent when he came all this way to participate in a dating show with me?
Jocelyn moved in front of Enoch, watching him exhale smoke, his deep–set eyes half–squinting in a charming manner that stirred emotions within her. As she got closer, she could smell the faint scent of cedar wood, refreshing yet manly.
She glanced at his long fingers holding the cigarette, noticing that his sleeves had been rolled up slightly, revealing his strong forearms with faint blue veins that seemed to hide immense strength.
Noticing Jocelyn staring at him, Enoch narrowed his sharp eyes and said carelessly, “What?”
His frosty tone was even more detached than that of a stranger. Jocelyn remembered his actions toward Tiana during the livestream, and a hint of jealousy crept into her heart. “Enoch, don’t forget that you are my fiancé.”
Enoch’s handsome face remained stone–cold at her words, a chilling mockery flickering in his deep–set eyes.
“Is that so?”
His dismissive and slightly sarcastic remark struck Jocelyn’s heart like a whip.
In truth, they had long since broken off their engagement. After Jocelyn became the nation’s first love, she promptly returned the bracelet given to her by the Gaston family and said some hurtful words, like how Enoch was unambitious and too lowly to be worthy of her, insisting she didn’t want to marry a freeloader.
“Since you know I’m not your fiancée any longer, why are you here for the dating show?” she asked.
Enoch flicked the cigarette ashes on his fingertips and lifted his eyelids slightly. His voice was faintly mocking. Tm not here for you
What he said hit Jocelyn like a slap to her face. She wondered if he was here for Tiana since he was not here for her. Thinking back to the first impression segment, where neither he nor Simon showed any interest in her, she felt embarrassed and furious.
“Don’t tell me you’re here for Tiana. I wouldn’t even lay my eyes on you, so why do you think she would–Before she could finish, she suddenly saw Enoch pull a knife from his pocket. The sharp blade glinted in the moonlight with a cold gleam.
“What are you doing?” Jocelyn screamed before she could finish her sentence. The sharp knife shot straight toward her forehead. Jocelyn quickly shut her eyes, terrified. Is Enoch crazy? Doesn’t he know that murder is illegal?” she thought
A gust of wind rushed past her ear. Jocelyn opened her eyes as her long eyelashes trembled, only to find a lock of her hair severed and falling to the ground. The knife was embedded in the tree right behind her ear. Had it been just one inch closer, it would have cut her face.
Jocelyn’s face turned pale, her legs shaking uncontrollably. Enoch glanced icily at her. “Don’t provoke Tiana again, or next time, it won’t just be your hair that gets cut.”
He stepped forward, pulled the knife from the tree, and walked away indifferently. Even after he had walked a distance, Jocelyn still felt a chilling and terrifying aura lingering around her. Slowly, she crouched down, trembling.
She refused to believe he was seeking revenge for Tiana, thinking. He must be freaked out by the insulting words I thrown at him when I called off the engagement! What a vengeful man!‘
Tiana felt a bit thirsty, so she went downstairs to pour herself a glass of water and happened to see Enoch coming the backyard with an expressionless face.

Quickly, Tiana turned around, facing away from him, pretending she hadn’t noticed him. Without the live camera, she

Tiana met his deep, almost devouring gaze and pouted. “Don’t take yourself too seriously; I wouldn’t get mad over your words!”
She put down her cup and prepared to leave. But the next second, Enoch grabbed her waist and pulled her back
He pressed her against the water dispenser, his handsome, cold face coming closer, enveloping her in a faint scent of tobacco and hormones. “Don’t be mad; I won’t say it again.”
He lowered his head, his thin lips almost brushing her ear. With every breath he spoke, she felt a shiver of pleasure and irritation run through her.
As he admitted his fault, the pent–up grievance and bitterness in her heart surged like a tide. Her long eyelashes trembled violently, her eyes turning red as she willled “Actually, you’re right about that. It took me ten years to see through that scumbag. I definitely have a lovesick brain
Enoch curled his long, defined linger and gently brushed it against her pretty little nose. “Your brain is not entirely lovesick”
Tiana lifted her long eyelashes to look at him. “What do you mean?”
“You still know how to protect what’s most precious to you,” he said
Mentioning this made her angry. “You are the bastard who took away what was most precious to me.”
Unfazed by her insult. Enoch laughed sonly: “Do you think this bastard is good at that?”
Tiana felt her ears heating up. She hated Enoch for mentioning it. Flustered and annoyed, the raised her hands to push him away. But before she could push him, he grabbed her wrist.

He didn’t exert much force, but his deep eyes focused intently on her wrist. “Why is your wrist so red?”

Tiana’s skin was so delicate that just a little pinch could leave marks. After Simon had squeezed her wrist hard earlier, it was inflamed now.
“It’s fine; I just bumped into something,” she said.
Frost settled in Enoch’s deep eyes, the lines of his face tightening sharply. “Tell me the truth!”
Tiana turned her head away, not wanting to answer. There was no need to stir up trouble with him. Simon’s influence in Novavista was certainly not something an ordinary person could challenge.
“Is it because of him?” he asked.
Tiana bit her lip. “I made it clear with him already.”
“Other than your wrist, did he touch you anywhere else?” Enoch’s handsome features fell completely into a frustrated scowl, his entire demeanor radiating a hurricane–like coldness and hostility. “Tell me!”
