Chapter 12
Grace woke up, her head feeling heavy and her eyes filled with confusion.
Looking around, there were simple residential houses, with warm fires burning. The blankets on their bodies still carried the scent of sunlight.
A middle–aged woman saw that she woke up and a smile appeared on her face.
“Mr. Walton, your sister woke up.”
Sister? Grace had some doubts in her heart, but she still followed the middle–aged woman’s gaze and looked over.
A handsome man with clear and gentle eyes.
Grace’s heart inexplicably calmed down.
The man walked in, slightly pursing his lips.
“How are you? Is your head still hurting?”
Grace’s lips curved slightly upwards.
“I’m fine, just a little dizzy, and… I seem to not remember you.”
A trace of astonishment flashed in Zackery Walton’s eyes.
A while ago, Jake, who was fishing, found a girl, but there was no suitable place for everyone to accommodate her.
Zackery felt sympathy and, with the intention of protecting

her, he lied to the villagers, telling them that Grace was his. sister who had come to seek refuge and would be staying in the village temporarily.
Otherwise, being a single man and woman together, it always had a bad reputation for the girl. But who would have known that this girl had actually lost her memory?
Zackery sighed and handed over the medicine.
“Take the medicine first, rest for a while, and you will remember.”
The middle–aged woman also looked at her with a face full of sympathy.
“Poor thing, you’ve really suffered, girl. I’m Kelly, your neighbor. If you need anything, feel free to ask.”
Grace nodded and nodded in thanks.
Kelly hurriedly left again, and Grace started sipping the medicine.
I don’t know why, but these people and the environment made me feel extremely unfamiliar.
Spread out the palm, the hand is delicate and tender, not resembling the appearance of a rural child.
She hesitated with a hint of confusion.
“Brother, why don’t I have calluses on my hands?”
Zackery saw Kelly walking away and recounted the whole story.

“Miss… at that time, it was just a temporary arrangement. What are your plans for the future? Do you want to go and find your family?”
Grace heard the words “family” and an unknown pain surged
in her heart.
She reflexively refused.
“No need.”
The air fell silent for a few seconds, and then Zackery spoke
slowly.
“You are alone, you can stay here for now, and tell others that you are my distant cousin.”
Grace nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude in her heart.
Under Zackery’s careful care, Grace gradually settled down.
Although this village was poor and backward, the scenery was charming and the people were simple and honest.
The whole village had only one teacher, Zackery, and sometimes he often felt overwhelmed.
Seeing the children’s eager eyes for knowledge and also to repay Zackery’s care, Grace decided to teach the children together with Zackery.
In the early morning, sunlight streamed into the humble classroom as Grace and Zackery led the children in reading the lesson.
After class, Grace would play and laugh with the children on the playground, while Zackery watched, a gentle smile

The days passed by incredibly peaceful and comforting.
Until…
Kelly happily ran in.
“That’s great! The village chief said that an entrepreneur is going to donate money to our village.”
“Great, Cael’s school environment has improved now. Maybe in the future, we might actually see a golden phoenix flying out of our remote mountain valley.”
Zackery’s face was also filled with joy.
“Really? Mr. Kaufman is really willing to donate to our small town?”
Upon hearing the surname Kaufman, Grace felt even more uncomfortable in her heart, as if peculiar emotions were about to emerge at any moment.
