Chapter 24
Grace and Zackery walked out of the banquet hall, with the mottled light and shadow reflecting on the two of them who had just met.
Zackery felt guilty.
“Grace, I’m sorry for putting you through so much back then.”
“My parents directly had someone tie me back, and it also took time to do a paternity test.”
Grace’s gaze, however, was very gentle.
“It’s okay, as long as you are safe, I feel much more relieved.”
Zackery’s eyes burned with an intense heat, as if they were about to catch fire, and Grace’s face also blushed.
He held Grace’s hand.
“Don’t worry, with me around, I will never let you suffer such injustice again.”
“I will take you home first.”
Grace was somewhat taken aback.
“This is too fast.”
Zackery looked serious.
“I wanted to let you know that you deserved the best things in the world, and I wanted to give you everything I could.”

Grace agreed as well.
But when she stepped into the luxurious mansion of the Walton family, she felt an unprecedented sense of
oppression.
The butler warmly received her, however, Grace caught a glimpse of something unusual in the eyes of the servants.
Zackery comfortingly patted her hand.

“Wait a moment, let me go upstairs and talk to my parents.”
Grace nodded in agreement.
“Okay.”
After Zackery left, a woman dressed in a magnificent gown walked in. There was a natural arrogance in her eyes.
At the moment she saw Grace, the woman slightly furrowed her brows and a hint of mocking smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
The woman walked straight up to Grace and looked her up and down.
“Are you the woman who divorced but still clung to Zackery? Don’t you even consider your own status and dare to have delusions of getting involved.”
Grace’s mind went blank, and she remembered the days when she was bullied by Yesenia. The humiliation and pain had not disappeared, and they would resurface whenever there was another opportunity.
Grace forced a smile on her face.

“Miss, who are you?”
The woman looked disdainful.

“I was Zackery’s fiancée, Miss Evelyn of the White family.”
“And you, you are shameless, without any self–awareness. Quickly leave Zackery and stop embarrassing yourself here.”
Grace’s nails clenched tightly into her palm.
“If that’s the case, you let Zackery personally tell me.”
“Ms. Parrish, I came to talk to you.”
A noblewoman walked down the stairs step by step.
“Ms. Parrish, I am Lina, Zackery’s mother.”
“Zackery, this child wandered outside for many years, with a pure and good nature, and also had decent abilities, but when it came to emotions, he was still a blank slate.”
“Ms. Parrish was beautiful and resourceful, but the Walton family would not allow such a daughter–in–law to enter their home.”
“And the fact of having been divorced and having children… I believe most parents cannot accept it.”
Lina’s tone was polite, but it carried a sense of condescending insult.
Finally, she took out a check.
“Ms. Parrish, here is fifty million, please leave with the money.”

Zackery’s fiancée ran over and grabbed Lina’s hand.
“Hello again, please support me.”
Grace’s last glimmer of hope was shattered, as she looked at the unfamiliar and indifferent scene before her, feeling like an intruder.
She made a mistake once and she didn’t want to make the same mistake again.
She politely shook her head.
“Since that’s the case, I respect you, I won’t take the check, you can spend it on your daughter–in–law.”
She didn’t want to get involved in this complicated dispute
anymore.
Even though she was once again cruelly played by fate, she could do nothing but leave.
Lina watched her departing figure, her eyes filled with darkness.
It’s good as long as you behave well. If you keep bothering, she won’t show any mercy.
