Chapter 13
In my third year in England, I devoted myself entirely to academics and obtained an assistant professorship.
On the eve of graduation, my senior came to have a drink with me.
“Guess who I saw when I went back home the other day?”
“Who?”
“Your two–timing ex.”
My senior was filled with righteous indignation. “That dog of a man, he found me and put on a deep affection act.” Hearing about him again, I felt extraordinarily calm insido. “He went to find you?”
“As if he found me, anyway he looked for all your college and grad school classmates he could find. But you told me not to tell him your whereabouts, and you had your family block information, so he couldn’t find shit. Anyway, the guy seemed quito crazy and unhinged.”
I clinked my glass with hers. “I don’t really care about him anymore.”
“Of course he’s not worth your concern. When I was about to leave, he even asked me to bring you a wedding dress, saying he’s been waiting for you. Hilarious, who asked him to wait?”
Ishrugged. “It’s all in the past anyway”
I won’t feel resentful just because the ending doesn’t match the process. There are no wounds that can’t be healed, no abyss that can’t be ended. Over these years, I’ve long come to terms with it.
“But he still sneakily stuffed this into my backpack, how despicablal”
I took it over. It was the handmade photo album I had asked him to make.
It was filled with photos of him and me, from being unfamiliar to slowly falling in love
Recording all the things that happened since we started dating.
On the last page, his strong handwriting said: “Sophia Johnson, I love you”
My senior saw it too and glanced at me in a panic. “Hey, you’re not going to be moved, are you?”
I closed the album and throw it in the trash
“How could I ba? If I were moved, it would only make me feel like all my efforts were a joke”
My senior breathed a sigh of relief. “But there is something you might be interested in.”
From my senior, I heard Lily Thompson’s story. Apparently it caused quite a stir in the domestic news. She was caught and beaten up by the original wife when she was the mistress.
Then she tried to use live streaming to whitewash herself
posts she made while
But it backfired and dug up more dirt on her. They said she was a habitual offender, and all the posts
pursuing Ethan Williams were exposed.
The secret crush diary came back to bite her, and everyone lashed out:
“Knowingly being a mistress? Damn, this gives me breast hyperplasio just reading it.”
“I didn’t know there were still people who could make intruding on someone else’s relationship sound so fresh and refined,”
“Confessing before the wedding, giving her virginity as a gift? This woman is mentally ill.”
“If I were the groom’s fiancée, I’d go beat her up.”
“The woman is cheap, but the man isn’t innocent either. If he had boundaries, could she have put on such a show?”
So everyone was waiting to see how this relationship would end. An insider said the bride ran away on the wedding day
The groom searched the whole city but couldn’t find his missing bride. The man went crazy
The nations all cursed that he deserved it.
