Chapter 3
I didn’t receive any messages from Ethan, but I got a call from Oliver Smith.
“Guess who I ran into in Los Angeles?”
“Oliver, I don’t care. Stop calling me from different numbers.”
As I was about to hang up, I heard the smugness he was trying to suppress in his voice:
you
“Sophia, don’t you understand why Ethan disappeared for so long? He doesn’t want to marry you. He minds that ye
used to chase me.”
“He only got close to you to get back at me. He’s not someone worth entrusting yourself to at all.”
“What exactly are you trying to say?” I was getting impatient.
“Sophia, at least besides you who liked me for ten years, I don’t have any other girls around me…
I sat up and raised my voice, “Oliver, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”
“It’s been five years, but you’re still so keen on driving a wedge between us.

Suddenly I recalled when Ethan and I had just made our relationship official. I wanted to see the stars from the mountain top in the middle of the night.
Without a word, he indulged my little whim and drove me up the mountain overnight
The midnight air was slightly cool. He held me gently, his body heat transferring to me. He bent down and asked carefully, “The moonlight is so beautiful. Sophia, may I kiss you?”
In the end, there’s no going back
I dozed off in a daze until the middle of the night when I heard movement in the living room.
I broke out in a cold sweat, too weak to get up.
The next second, the bedroom light turned on.
The glaring brightness made me unable to open my eyes.
I heard Ethan’s anxious volca, “Sophie, what’s wrong with
