Chapter 12
At this time, everyone was watching Alpha Joseph’s reaction closely. After all, Hallie was
his new Luna.
However, within moments, Alpha Joseph held a press conference, announcing the termination.
of his mate bond with Hallie.
In the late stages of cancer and suffering greatly, Hallie found herself abandoned. No one was
willing to cover her medical expenses, and she couldn’t even afford painkillers. Unable to pay, she was promptly discharged from the hospital.
She called Alpha Joseph in tears, but he was occupied with debt collection from other packs and couldn’t spare her any attention.
Hallie attempted to stay at Alpha Joseph’s residence, but the servants, resentful of her
betrayal and the deaths of their loved ones at

the hands of the rogue king, treated her like an enemy. They berated her and forced her to leave.
In a desperate move, Hallie came to me, hoping I would offer her refuge. Emaciated and pitiful
from her cancer, she was a sight of true misery.
Yet, sympathy was beyond me–such a pitiable state, but she had brought it upon herself.
“Please, Evie, I heard from Alpha Joseph that
Darkmoon Pack is so powerful. Could you take me in for a few days?” She clutched my arm, pleading.
I gently pushed her hand away and shook my head. “Sorry, but we are not even friends. We only know each other because of Alpha Joseph.”
She refused to leave, so I called the werewolf council. Since Hallie was now a fugitive,

reporting her seemed like the right thing to do.
Unexpectedly, upon seeing me call the werewolf council, Hallie’s demeanor changed drastically. Her once delicate face twisted into a grotesque
expression.
She accused me of being jealous, questioning why I could be happy with Alpha Joseph while. she had nothing. She lamented that, despite sacrificing everything to aid the rogue king, Luke had now turned against her.
In desperation after her cancer diagnosis and with no other options left, her outrageous demand to Alpha Joseph was a ploy to create discord between us and force him to cover her
exorbitant medical bills.
“I’m not only going to break you and Alpha Joseph apart, but I also want Wilderness Pack for myself. I can’t believe I misjudged him back then–who would’ve thought that a crippled

“I was even planning to drive you to the brink and watch you beg for my mercy. But who knew you’d be so heartless?
“The wedding preparations were all set, and yet you two just broke up so easily.”
Hallie laughed sickly, asking me if I never loved Alpha Joseph in the first place.
Fury shook me, and just as I was about to speak, someone burst through the door, striking Hallie hard across the face.
I looked up to see Alpha Joseph, his face twisted in rage. He grabbed Hallie by the hair and landed a punch to her chest. His fur bristled, signaling his wolf nature was surfacing and seeking release.
“No–stop!” I rushed forward to intervene.

“Stay away!” Alpha Joseph’s eyes were blazing red as he glared at Hallie. “Is what you said
true?”
Already suffering from late–stage cancer, Hallie took a long time to catch her breath after the blow and then laughed maniacally.
“Yes, Alpha Joseph, why are you pretending to be so devoted now? I’m not your destined mate; I merely used a bit of magic potion to deceive you.”
Alpha Joseph tightened his grip on Hallie’s neck, lifting her into the air with anger.
“So you’re saying it’s all a lie? The mate bond was a lie. Because of your deceit, I lost the one who truly loved me!”
Seeing Hallie’s face turning ashen and near asphyxiation, I stepped in and pulled the

trollable Alpha Joseph away.
Thank heavens, the Werewolf Council arrived
just in time. Given the complexity of the
situation, they took all three of us to the interrogation room.
Inside the room, Alpha Joseph was like a furious madman, trying once again to assault Hallie, but fortunately, the council members
intervened.
After I explained the entire situation to the council members, I prepared to leave. As I was about to exit with Alpha Joseph, Hallie stopped
- me.
“Hallie, this is an interrogation room, not a place for your tantrums,” I said loudly.
“Evelyn, don’t think that just because I’m dying, you and Alpha Joseph will be together,” Hallie laughed like a lunatic

Watching her retreating figure sent a shiver down my spine.
I truly felt a sense of dread; Hallie’s madness and Alpha Joseph’s absurdity filled me with fear. Luckily, I had withdrawn in time. Had I hesitated, I might have been caught in a hopeless situation.
