For the past few days, I have been helplessly waiting at home for Alpha Joseph to return and give me an explanation. He has neither gone to the pack nor returned to the house.

He hasn’t even answered my calls.
“Miss, you have an appointment for your prenatal checkup today at 2 p.m. Please
remember to arrive on time.”
A notification from the hospital about my prenatal appointment popped up on my phone.
I touched my still–flat belly, tears streaming down my face.
“I’m sorry, baby. Mommy might not be able to give you a complete home.”
After completing my checkup and taking the nutritional supplements prescribed by the doctor, I was about to leave when I suddenly
heard a familiar name in the hospital corridor.
“Are Hallie’s family members here? Hallie’s test results are ready.”

The familiar name caused me to freeze, and I
looked up abruptly.
Not far down the corridor, a man lifted his head in response to the call. It was Alpha Joseph, who had proposed to me not long ago.
This sight left my mind blank. I quickly hid
around the corner.
After Alpha Joseph entered the examination room, I followed and arrived at the door of the
room.
As I stood at the door of the examination room, my steps faltered suddenly.
I wasn’t sure why I was there. To catch him in the act? Or to confront him? Either way, both
actions would be unbecoming and pitiful.

After the nurse left, I gently pushed open the door just enough to see inside the room. Through the narrow gap, I saw my mate, Alpha Joseph, holding Hallie in his arms, crying like a
child.
Standing at the door, I felt a sharp pang in my heart. After the rogues‘ attack on Wilderness Pack, Alpha Joseph fell into a deep trough in his life. I took care of him for three years, helping him emerge from the shadows, rebuild Wilderness Pack, and assume the Alpha
position.

After steeling myself, I pushed open the door
and walked into the room.
“Evelyn, are you stalking me?” Alpha Joseph’s
face darkened as he saw me enter the room. He took the nutritional supplements from my hands, glanced at them dismissively, and said with a tone of irritation and reproach, “Evelyn, since you know Hallie is ill, why did you buy such cheap supplements? Was this deliberate?”
I felt hurt by his accusation of “deliberate,” and I was at a loss for words, but managed to

I stood frozen, and he walked over, tossing the supplements into a trash bin outside the room.
“I’ve been busy lately and haven’t had time to contact you. Since you’re here today, there’s something I need to discuss. Hallie wants a wedding of her own, but as you know, her time is running short. There isn’t much time, so we’ll use the wedding plans you prepared for our ceremony. The wedding will proceed as scheduled next month. Just changing the bride,” Alpha Joseph said.

My head felt like it exploded at his words.
“Evelyn, you’re not going to blame me, are
you?” Hallie, on the side, looked at me with tearful eyes, “I just don’t want to have any regrets before I die. Please, grant me this wish.”
Alpha Joseph wanted me to be more understanding and think of the bigger picture.
Hallie tugged at my sleeve, calling me “Evie” weakly, hoping I would step aside and allow them to be together. She even said that as a dying person, she wouldn’t compete with me for Alpha Joseph. She just wanted to have a wedding of her own.
My head buzzed, and my heart was in turmoil.
Marriage is not something to be taken so lightly.
When I protested, Alpha Joseph harshly scolded
me from his moral high ground, accusing me of
