Chapter 17
At this moment, the doctors and nurses hurriedly pushed the surgical cart over. “Sir!”
They hurriedly pushed him into the hospital, and Julia followed behind.
The old man’s attending physician was in a private consultation when he heard that the old man was being pushed into the operating room, so surgery could not be performed immediately.
Furthermore, he knew that the prospects were not good. It was a mess, and whoever who took the surgery would be damned. If the person died during the surgery, he couldn’t afford the responsibility.
Julia got a sense of the situation.
The old man had been ill for many years. The situation earlier was the most urgent one. The doctors in the emergency department immediately performed surgery on him.
Not long after, the nurse came out. “He has stopped breathing,” she hastily told the director, who had rushed over.
Julia furrowed her brows, recalling the old man’s situation in her mind. In a serious tone, she said, “There is still hope, hurry! We can give it a try!”
“Breathless, and his heartbeats fading fast. How can you still save him? You’re just too overconfident…” replied the nurse.
However, seeing the earnest look on Julia’s face, the director asked her, “Are you sure you can handle it? Can you take on the responsibility?”
“I can.” Julia nodded, her gaze determined.
Byron heard about this and had arrived on the scene. He supported Julia by saying, “I believe in Julia!”
“Go! Intubate the trachea, use balloon–assisted ventilation, and continue to perform CPR! We must hold on until we reach the operating room!” the director said.
With approval granted, Julia quickly called for people to get ready and led Byron into the operating room.
Julia remained in high tension for a dozen hours, not even daring to close her eyes when sweat dripped into them.
The two illuminated characters “in operation” finally went out.
Julia walked out of the operating room, removed her mask, and spoke to the people waiting outside in a hoarse voice. “The surgery was successful.” The dean let out a sigh of relief and approval while the family members were ecstatic…
All the surrounding sounds started drifting away from her, and Julia felt like her body no longer had any strength in it. “Doctor, thank you. I appreciate it. I… “The family members of the old man rushed over. Tears welled in their eyes as they grasped her hand to express their gratitude continuously.
Julia reluctantly forced a smile at the corners of her mouth. She opened her mouth and finally managed to spit out a few words from her dry and almost smoking throat. “This is what I should do. However, the danger has not passed yet, so you should be careful while caring for the patient.”
She was exhausted and suddenly blacked out. Luckily, she was quick enough to grab onto the wall and didn’t faint.
Upon seeing this, Byron quickly walked over to her and lifted her into his arms.
“Byron?” Julia slowly regained her strength and was hit by a wave of dizziness. Only then did she realize that she had been picked up.
Byron spoke in a low voice. “Julia, you are too tired. I will take you to the office to rest.”

Byron was in the operating room with her and was also very tired, so Julia wanted to say that it was not necessary, but Byron insisted. She didn’t want to struggle, so she could only stay in his arms obediently.
Byron carried Julia back to the office, and almost as soon as she touched the couch, Julia closed her eyes and fell asleep.
There was an undeniable exhaustion on her face, so much so that even in her sleep, her forehead was slightly furrowed.
Byron let out a sigh. He removed his hand from her waist and gently stroked her forehead.
At this moment, a cold voice came from the door. “What are you doing?”
Byron straightened up. A tall and imposing man standing at the doorway with a cold expression as he gazed at Byron with a slightly displeased look.
‘Why was Joseph here?‘ Byron thought.
Byron turned back to look at Julia with a calm expression. He said in a low, serene voice, “She’s asleep. Don’t wake her up.” Joseph frowned, exuding a chilling aura. He glanced deeply at Byron, who was still blocking Julia from his view. His gaze almost left Byron in a daze.
Joseph had been in a high position for a long time, and his gaze was cold and full of coercion, carrying the inherent air of a king.
Immediately, he placed a set of keys on Julia’s desk. “Her apartment key.”
Joseph only said a sentence and even seemed somewhat casual and lazy when he said it, but his words made Byron furrow his brows.
