Joseph was taken aback and tightened the fork in his hand. “We’ll talk about it when your body fully recovers,” he said lightly. No promise was made, nor was any refusal given.
As if not hearing the hesitation in his words, Amelie laughed and served him a bowl of mushroom soup. “I’ve spent two hours making this. Please have a taste, and if you like it, I’ll make it for Rylie once I’ve perfected the recipe. I’m sure she’ll love it.”
Without saying anything. Joseph took a taste of the mushroom soup. “Very fresh.”
There was nothing to complain about this bowl of mushroom soup. Joseph was surprised at how good Amelie’s skill was and suddenly remembered a night six months ago when Julia also stewed mushroom soup. The taste of it was surprisingly similar to Amelie’s soup.
Joseph took another bowl of soup.
As she saw this, a subtle smile deepened in Amelie’s eyes. She watched Joseph drink while also helping him with the dishes.
The sky darkened. After confirming that Amelie’s condition was not worsening or was serious, Joseph stood up and planned to return to the company.
Amelie suddenly spoke up to make Joseph stay. “Joseph, there always seem to be strange sounds coming from the room upstairs at night. I’m a little scared. Can you help me take a look?”
Joseph looked at the upper floor with a confused gaze and then went upstairs under Amelie’s subtle pleading eyes.
Opening the master bedroom, he saw there had been subtle changes in the layout and impression from what he remembered. Joseph ignored the strange feeling in his heart and asked, “Where did the sound come from?”
Amelie suddenly stepped forward and embraced his tall figure from behind, “Joseph, can you stay tonight?”
Furrowing his brows, Joseph knew that there might not be any strange sounds at all. Amelie just wanted him to stay at the villa overnight.
Knowing that she had always been somewhat willful and this kind of willfulness only showed in front of him, Joseph had no intention of getting angry with her, but there was a faint feeling of irritability in his heart.
Joseph calmly took Amelie’s hand and said with a calm expression, “You should rest earlier.”
This was his refusal.
Amelie once again threw herself into Joseph’s arms as if she had not heard his words. “Joseph, I love you. You are the only man by my side for so many years. I only love you, and you are already divorced. Why can’t we be together?”
Why can’t we be together? Joseph’s deep eyes revealed a hint of confusion, and in his mind, a slim figure quickly flashed by. But he promptly suppressed all his thoughts and calmly said, “Everything can wait until you have fully recovered”
“However, I don’t mind. My body is much better now. Joseph, don’t you really want me?” As she spoke, Amelie’s delicate body pressed closely against him.
Joseph was about to push her away when suddenly everything went dark before his eyes. He staggered a few steps and fell onto the large bed behind him.
In the early morning, Joseph suddenly woke up and sat up from the bed, frowning as he looked around.
This situation reminded him of a very messy morning a month ago.

Joseph, are you awake?” A shy and hesitant voice sounded from beside him, and when Joseph saw the woman lying next to him clearly, his deep eyes narrowed.
On his handsome face, a fleeting chill of restlessness passed, and he quickly got out of bed.
Seeing this, a slight stiffness crept onto Amelie’s face.
But she quickly gathered her slightly revealing nightgown around her and sat up, urging, “Joseph, are you leaving so soon?”
Joseph carefully fastened his cufflinks with one hand, and upon hearing the words, he turned back and glanced briefly. “What happened last night?” he asked.
Looking into his pitch–black eyes without a hint of light, Amelie bit her lip slightly and blushed, saying, “Last night, we…”
“I got it. You take a rest first.” It was like he didn’t care about her answer at all. Joseph just rolled up his sleeves and walked out of the room.
Behind him, Amelie’s cheeks were even redder, and there was a hint of pride and smug in her eyes.
She knew Joseph the best. Joseph was a responsible guy, and he was definitely going to marry her.
Downstairs, the maid who had just returned to the villa in the morning was cleaning the living room. When she saw Joseph coming down from upstairs, she suddenly showed a surprised expression. “Sir, how did you come back?”
And he stayed the night here?‘ thought the maid inwardly.
Throw away all the food from last night,” Joseph said in a cold and deep voice as he passed by the dining room,
The maid quickly nodded, and before she could say anything, she saw that Joseph’s figure had already disappeared at the door.

“By the way, check what medication the doctor prescribed for Amelie last night at the hospital?” added Joseph.
As a senior executive assistant and after years of hard work, Joel quickly gathered himself and left the office after nodding in
response.
Joseph pondered on last night’s events, his eyes gradually deepening.
He could notice any abnormality in his body, thinking inwardly, ‘Although I didn’t pay much attention to Amelie’s impulsive behavior this time, how could a girl who was inexperienced in the ways of the world know about this kind of medicine? What could be the intentions of the person who gave her this medicine? I have to figure it out.
After that night, no matter what reasons Amelie used, even if Amelie claimed that she was not feeling well, Joseph did not come back but arranged for a family doctor for her.

Half a month later, Amelie finally couldn’t sit still and went to the hospital again.
“This time, you’ll tamper with the prenatal examination report and tell everyone that I am pregnant,” she said without much hesitation in front of the familiar doctor.
