Chapter 11
As Tara said, everything left in the entire apartment belonged to Nathen.
Melanie left without leaving anything behind, as if she had prepared herself to leave.
Nathen broke out in a cold sweat and collapsed directly onto the ground.
Tara also panicked and kept asking him non–stop.
“Did you guys have a fight? Her legs are like that, why didn’t you give in a little to her? Why did you make her so angry?”
“Where can she go on such a cold day? You better think quickly! If something happens to her, how can you face your in–laws after the vows you made in front of them?”
“You quickly call her and apologize, speak nicely. She is kind–hearted, she will definitely forgive you. Don’t just stand there!”
For Nathen at this moment, these words were like a sharp blade, piercing straight into the deepest
and most embarrassing corner of his heart.
His lips closed tightly, releasing a urgent and burning breath, along with some thoughts that only
he could hear.
There was no argument, throughout the whole time, she did not express any dissatisfaction towards him, she just bore it all alone.
She disappeared on purpose, she wanted to tell him in this way that she already knew everything.
She would not forgive him anymore, no matter how he apologized, she would not turn back again.
Sentence by sentence, like a spell, it lingered in Nathen’s mind, slowly tightening and forming a
knot.
A knot that he could never untie, even if he spent the rest of his life trying.
Having known each other for over twenty years, no one understands better than Nathen what kind
of
person Melanie is.
She was brave and decisive. Once she made up her mind, she would never turn back.
Since she chose to leave silently, it meant that she would not give him any more chances.
Three years of marriage, nine years of love, twenty years of affection, all captured in the phrase “must go“.
She was not asking him if he had to go back to his country.
Instead, I asked him if he had made up his mind to end everything between them.

And what he was concerned about at that time was only Kenna, who was far away.
did not understand the announcement about separation conveyed in this sentence.
The snowflakes that were ignored at that time, about the separation and sadness, quietly brewed
into a blizzard in the passing million seconds.
A blizzard strong enough to bury Nathen.
He stared blankly at the empty wheelchair in the distance, as the sounds of cars and people around him gradually transformed into faint electrical static.
Unbeknownst, tear after tear welled up in the eyes, like a pre–programmed sequence, and unexpectedly rolled down.
rick, tock, echoing with the second hand moving along the wall.
Tara, who was getting impatient, couldn’t bear his indifferent attitude anymore.
She raised her hand and slapped him across the face, her voice already choked with sobs.
“Speak up! What’s the use of crying? Even if she hates you to death, you should still find a way to
bring her back. This is what you owe her!”
This sentence, like a spell, pierced Nathen’s already bewildered and desperate heart.
All of a sudden, he remembered the car accident seven years ago. The girl he loved to the core fell
down in a pool of blood, with only a faint gasp left.
In order to save him, she lost her legs and spent the rest of her life confined to a wheelchair.
But she never regretted that moment’s action.
Until today, Nathen still remembers the sentence she said to him on the day she was discharged.
“Nathen, even if I had to do it all over again ten thousand times, I would still save you.”
Since she would save him even if she had to do it ten thousand times.
If only he could find her and admit the mistakes he had made, would she give him another chance?
Would she?
