The last day before the wedding countdown.
Jessica took me to a bar for drinks.
My plan to run away from the wedding, from start to finish, I had only told her.
She knew I had been wronged and wanted to call over a few handsome guys to keep me company, to help ease the pain of my heartbreak.
But I wasn’t in the mood.
Just then, we suddenly heard some discordant voices.
Emily was sitting at the bar not far away, seemingly drunk, crying and making a scene with a man.
I recognized the man’s back.
It was Jack.
Emily cried and hugged Jack: “By tomorrow, you’ll completely belong to that woman. I really can’t accept it!”
“Tomorrow I’ll crash the wedding. You must leave with me, we promised!”
Jack pushed her away: “Let go of me first.”
“No!”
Emily wrapped her arms around his neck.
“If you don’t promise me, I won’t let go!”

The friends drinking with them also started teasing:
“Emily really likes you too much. She’s had so much to drink tonight.”
“Can you really bear to reject her?”
“Don’t forget, when we played role–playing games as kids, you always fought to play Emily’s husband.”
“We’ve watched Emily grow up. We’ve never seen her cry like this before. Why don’t you just give in to her?”
Emily giggled: “See, they’re all on our side… Lily is the real homewrecker.”
Jack used his hand to block her face: “Stop it.”
Emily took the chance to kiss his palm: “You haven’t tried me yet. Tonight I’ll give myself to you, okay?”
I saw Jack’s expression change.
I couldn’t tell what he was feeling.
In the end, I saw Emily nestling in Jack’s arms as he carried her away.
That night, I called Jack many times, but all were rejected.
My heart felt like it was being slowly cut open with the dullest knife, my palms trembling slightly.
I really wanted to rush over and expose them right then.
But it wasn’t time yet.
I hugged myself with trembling hands.
I told myself.
It’s okay, Lily.
It will be over soon.
