Chapter Four
The bus pulled into the station. Clint helped
me with my bag.
He took my number, then a phone call drew
him away.
“I’ll take you out for dinner soon.”
He left. I booked a hotel, looking for a place
to live.
It was far from Liam. I was safe.
The news reported on Liam. He had stood
tall, taking over the Grants.
I watched his gaunt face, with Serena by his
The press called them a perfect match,
speculating on their wedding.
Liam showed off his wedding ring..
“I’m already married.”
Danny was in the video, no longer cuddling
Serena.
It was Liam’s and Danny’s fault that they
were in this situation.
The customers sighed.
“Money doesn’t buy happiness.”
I chimed in, “He doesn’t love her. He’s lonely.”
<
The customer looked at me, “He’s always
posting on social media about her.”
Liam’s social media was full of how he
missed me.
The first day I left, he posted.
“I can’t sleep. I need you.”
The second day, he posted lilies.
“Liv, your favorite.”
The third day, he posted our picture.
“Liv, we miss you. I want your noodle soup.”
Liam became a celebrity.
Г
People wanted my identity, but Liam shut
them down.
He was scared that they would see his lies.
I clicked ‘follow‘ by accident.
That’s how Liam found me.
Clint asked me to dinner, pulling out my chair.
I looked at the steak, I had forgotten my
manners.
I frowned.
Clint cut the steak into pieces, passing the
plate to me.
Lemiled “Thanks !!
Г
Clint focused on his meal.
“It’s an honor to serve you.”
We ate.
Clint looked up, amused, leaning towards me.
His fingers touched my mouth, and I recoiled.
“You had sauce on your face.”
A voice said, “Liv!”
Liam ran over, hitting Clint.
Clint groaned.
“Liam! What are you doing?”
く
“Leave him alone.”
Liam pushed me away.
“You faked your death to be with him?
What about me?”
Liam raised his hand.
I stood in front of Clint. “Enough!”
People took photos.
“That’s Liam Grant! He’s attacking that man!”
Liam hit the table, staring.
“Explain.”
く
I pulled away. “We’re over, Liam.”
Liam turned pale, grabbing my arm.
“What are you talking about?”
Clint stood up, protecting me.
“Leave her alone.”
Liam smiled, “She’s my wife.
I can do what I want.”
I slapped Liam. “We were never married! I
hate you!”
Liam froze. “How did you know?”
I pushed him away. Clint held me.
<
Liam looked lost. “Where did you hear that?”
I said, “I was the cook.”
He tried to touch me. “Liv, it wasn’t like that.
The Grants needed help.”
I sneered, “You’re rich now. Did you need to
sell yourself?”
Liam looked hurt.
“Don’t be like that.”
I grabbed his collar.
“You destroyed my family. My father killed
himself.
<
And you say you love me? You’re disgusting!”
Liam stared. “You heard everything?”
I wiped my tears, and took Clint’s hand.
Liam’s face twisted with anger, and he
smashed a cup.
He blocked my path, pleading.
“Please, just one chance.
I’ll spend my life making up for it.”
I ignored him, leaving.
Clint put his jacket around me, carrying me.
He smiled at Liam.
Г
Clint drove me home, and I took off the
jacket.
“I’m sorry, I used you.”
“I owe you dinner.”
Clint turned, looking serious.
“You can use me anytime.”
He leaned in, and I pulled away.
“I was your teacher.”
He smiled, driving on. As he dropped me off,
he kissed my forehead.
“There’s only three years between us.
く
My heart raced, I watched Clint leave. Liam
was waiting.
He was staring at me.
I didn’t want to see him, unlocking the door.
Liam grabbed me, hugging me. “Liv, you don’t
love him!
You can only love me.”
I slapped him, glaring.
“Are you happy now?”
