I looked at the girl of the twins. Her face was pale and she was wearing a delicate shawl even
in the summer.
I remained indifferent. “Since she’s not feeling well, you should take her back to the city to see
a doctor or go back to Santarisom to find an expert for treatment. It’s getting late. You should leave early.”
I pulled Leo and turned to go home, but my wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Albert seemed a little angry and gritted his teeth. “Rosalind is also your child!”
This seemed like a signal.
Rosalind walked towards me, each step exuding the elegance of a noble lady. Her skirt swayed gently and her shoe tips were not exposed.
She hugged my waist and pressed her hot face against my chest, sobbing softly, “Mom, I feel
awful…”
Rosalind and Victor eventually stayed.
As a doctor, I couldn’t turn a blind eye to the patients.
Rosalind curled up on the small bed in the guest room, wrapped in a custom–made silk quilt, ignoring the ordinary cotton quilt beside her.
Her position didn’t look comfortable, but she insisted on it, so I didn’t say much.
After the examination, I told Albert that Rosalind was suffering.
“You should go back to Santarisom as soon as possible…”
“The company has an important merger case. I don’t have time to take care of her,” Albert
said in a low voice, “But the school entrance examination hasn’t ended yet.”
I sighed softly, “Then let them finish the exam as soon as possible so that Rosalind can go
back earlier.”
Albert frowned and suddenly looked up at me. “You want the exam to end quickly for your adopted son’s sake, and you want us to leave early to get rid of us, right?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
Albert seemed to be beside himself with rage. “Don’t you care about me…or our children?” “Not our children,” I said calmly. “Yours only.”
Rosalind Austin and Victor Austin’s father was Albert Austin. They were raised by Vera Austin and had nothing to do with Irene Bright.
I had given up on them.
Albert’s face turned pale in an instant, and his lips trembled uncontrollably. “We’re just separated, just temporarily apart… You’ll always be their mother, and they’ll always be your and my children.”
Before I could say anything else, Albert left the room in a hurry.
I watched his panicked back, a state of disarray that I had never seen on Albert before. It turned out that the same emotion could manifest in different ways.

Albert’s disarray was shown in his unstable gait, while mine was a complete breakdown.
When was it?
It was shortly after our marriage when I overheard Albert tell a friend, “I married Irene by accident. I was interested in Lindsey Paisley. We would have been a powerful combination. My father said Irene’s reputation would be damaged, though I didn’t care. But if I didn’t marry her, the company’s stock price would be affected. After weighing the pros and cons, I had no choice but to marry her,”
When I was pregnant, Albert said, “The company is at a critical stage of development. Having a child now will affect my work. Have an abortion.”
When I was building four snowmen for the children, he kicked them over and coldly scolded me, “Don’t play such tricks here. This is not something a lady of your status should do.”
After I was punished by Vera, he watched indifferently, “How can you lower yourself and be the mistress of the Austin family?”
There were too many such moments.
Disarray? I was already numb, and emotionless.
After Albert left, I asked Leo to look after the twins and carried the medical kit to the slum in the south of the town.
The delivery of the pregnant woman went relatively smoothly. She was in labor for two hours, lost five hundred milliliters of blood, and had a second–degree perineal tear. And the baby was born safely.
This was one of the easier cases I had handled.
Upon arriving home, I heard an argument inside.
