One song after another, Debra played according to the sheet music. In this casino, the music served as mere background noise, while the patrons were absorbed in the thrill of gambling.
“Ms. Frazier has already played through an entire book of sheet music. Should we…” the manager asked.
“Let her play it again,” Drake replied indifferently, his gaze unwavering.
He had been there watching for two full hours, and during that entire time, Debra’s hands hadn’t stopped moving over the keys.
But apparently, the customers were more interested in her looks than her music. No less than a dozen people had approached Drake to negotiate deals.
A rotund man approached and said, “Mr. Lowe, you know, I’m a simple man with simple tastes. How about you name a price for me to take her?”
Whether by design or chance, Drake positioned himself just two meters away from Debra, close enough for her to overhear every word.
“Mr. Bender,” the manager interrupted, “that is our newly hired pianist, and she only plays the piano.”
Sam, unsure of what to say, looked at Drake for confirmation.
Drake smiled faintly and said, “Harland, your comment isn’t entirely accurate. No one in this world doesn’t love money.”
“Exactly,” Sam echoed. “Money talks.”
Debra’s fingers faltered, hitting the wrong note as she overheard the vulgar conversation. No one else seemed to notice, except for Drake
Raising an eyebrow, he said, “Why don’t you go ask her yourself? See how much it’ll take to convince her.”
“Great idea. Thank you, Mr. Lowe.” Sam practically skipped over to Debra, a strong whiff of alcohol preceding him.
Debra instinctively tried to step back, but he grabbed her wrist, abruptly halting the music. The crowd noticed and looked over.
Sam caressed her hand and muttered lustfully, Darling, how much money do you want? I’ll give you whatever you want, as long as you come home with me tonight.”
His touch was repugnant, sending a wave of revulsion through her. She was eager to draw back her hand when she caught a glimpse of Drake’s grin.

Sam sat down and inched closer to her. “If you come with me, you’ll have all of them. Even if you want my life, I’ll give it to you.”
His hand began wandering freely along her waist.
Debra caught sight of Drake’s dark expression and placed her hand on Sam’s neck.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go now,” she purred.
Sam was overjoyed and eager to take her away immediately.
