Debra rose from her seat.
With what had happened just now, no one dared stop her.
She looked around on her way to the restroom. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her and dragged her to the corner.
The person covered her mouth before she could scream. She gasped, eyes wide with shock, but then she recognized the man.
It was the same person she had seen at the engagement party. His face was obscured by a silver mask, his sharp suit blending into the dim lighting.
“Don’t make a sound,” he whispered.
Debra tensed, but before she could react, a group of guards passed by the corridor. The man’s swift intervention had saved her from being spotted.
“Who are you?”
“This isn’t a place for you. Go back.”
His voice was distorted, probably due to a voice changer. She glanced down at the hand gripping her arm and shook it off.
“We don’t know each other, do we?”
“No.”
“Then why are you helping me? What does my situation have to do with you?”
The man remained silent, preparing to leave. But as he turned, she noticed the golden card
in his hand.
“You have a gold card?”
“You mean this?”
“Are you a regular here?”
“Sort of.”
“Can you take me upstairs?”
Though she couldn’t see his expression behind the mask, Debra sensed hesitation from his silence. She knew she had a chance.
Why do you want to go upstairs?”
“Just curious.”

“Are you sure?”
She nodded eagerly. This was a rare opportunity to finally get a glimpse of what was on the third floor, and she wasn’t going to let it slip away.
“Follow me.”
Debra followed closely behind him.
“Sir, what should I call you?”
“Frederic Young.”
As he grabbed her wrist, Debra felt a strange sense of familiarity but couldn’t place it.
Before she could dwell on it, Frederic muttered, “You’re good at acting. I won’t need to teach you what to do next, will I?”
“No.”
When they reached the elevator, she quickly slipped her arm around Frederic’s. The guards stationed there didn’t seem to recognize her, and seeing the two of them together, they raised no suspicion.
After verifying Frederic’s gold card, they were allowed into the elevator.
Debra’s heart pounded as they ascended, while the man beside her remained composed. When the elevator door dinged open, they stepped out onto the third floor.
The lighting was dim, casting an eerie red glow that reminded Debra of the underground passage she had seen earlier that afternoon. The unsettling atmosphere only made her breathing more erratic.
She wondered what Drake was doing behind the scenes.
“Sir, your room is 302,” a staff member said, handing Frederic a key card.
As they walked deeper into the hallway, Debra’s unease grew.
Then, suddenly, a voice halted them. “Sir, you can’t go any further. That’s Mr. Lowe’s room.”
