Cassidy left nothing behind, took nothing. with her. She simply disappeared quietly, blending into the sea of people, leaving Leon’s world with no trace of her.

Time passed swiftly and three years flew by. I never imagined I’d see Leon again.
My professor and I had achieved great success with our research and I had taken on a completely new identity. It was during an award ceremony that I saw Leon in the crowd.
The world was still too small–no matter how far we drifted, we would always cross paths.
He had changed a lot. It was as though the three years had frozen in his eyes, casting a cold aura over him.
The once vibrant Mr. Harber now carried a

sorrow in his brows that seemed
impossible to shake.
“Aren’t you going to say hello? I heard that for these three years, he searched for you obsessively, traveling to every corner of the world. Even I was moved by his
determination.” I could hear the sarcasm in my professor’s words and chuckled along with him.
“What’s the point?” I asked.
For someone like Leon, the most valuable things in the world are the ones he hasn’t yet had and the ones he’s already lost. He was born with everything and it seemed. like all of it was just within his reach. That’s why he could never learn to appreciate everything he already had.
“Alright, no need to waste energy on someone who’s not worth it. You‘ ve stood out in this research and I’ve already put in a recommendation for your
promotion. I believe your future is
limitless.”

My mentor wanted to take me up on stage to accept the award, but I preferred to keep a low profile. I didn’t want Leon to see me, so I politely declined his offer and stood aside, clapping silently.
Yet, for some reason, Leon still saw me.
Just as I was about to leave, he pushed through the crowd and stopped me. “Cassie…”
I turned calmly and met Leon’s gaze with a cold, unyielding stare.
“Sir, I think you‘ ve mistaken me with somebody else,” I replied.
“No, I haven‘ t. You‘ re my Cassie,” he insisted. “Dear, I was wrong. Please come back home with me. I promise I’ll never make you sad again.”
Men’s vows always come so easily. He once swore that there would never be lies or betrayal between us. He promised that our love would be like the stars–unique and eternal, never changing. But he didn’t

keep any of those promises.
I know Myrna‘ s ending was tragic and Leon hasn’t had it easy these past few
years.
None of that matters to me though. It s their own doing and it’s none of my
concern.
I’ve built a new life–one that has nothing to do with Leon or anything from the past. I took a few steps back, putting distance between us.
