Chapter 24
SONIA’S POV
I woke up with a start, and opened my eyes to meet streams of light resting on my face.
“It was just a dream,” I muttered, as I sat up.
A yawn escaped my throat, and I began to stretch. Once more, I had to remind myself it was just a dream. The nightmares had returned, but it was just a dream.
Years ago, I thought I had defeated them. These gruesome images that played in a loop in my head everytime I close my eyes to rest. I was excited the day I finally slept and didn’t see them.
But they had returned, and it was all thanks to that land.
It was truly cursed. A curse that I didn’t want any part of. But how was I supposed to distance myself when Ramon was banking on my failure to punish me?
My head spinned as I contemplated which was best. Playing with a curse or being punished by Alpha Ramon?
They both were equal in my eyes, yet, I was inching more to the punishment.
Curses were not things to be played with. They were ancient and binded with a sacred oath.
I didn’t want any part of that. But I knew I couldn’t escape it. Recently, it seemed that I was always thrown into things I wanted. no part of. This was not going to be any different
I was content with remaining in bed all day, but I suddenly remembered we had another different chore. A chore which required daily cleaning of the house.
With an abrupt start, I jumped to my feet, and hurried into the bathroom to relieve myself before I started the day.
I was stepping out of my room when I bumped into one of the twins.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, confused.
“Coming to fetch you. You’ve overslept, she left Ivy to do all the work. Are you playing with fire? Do you know how pissed the alpha would be if he finds out about this?”
“And who is going to tell him?” Ivy came in with a bucket and rag in hand.
He whirled, and sighed when he saw Ivy. “I thought you were working? Why are you here?”
“When you moved away from your brother she went into the house, I knew you were up to no good. Following behind you pretty much confirmed that. And why we’re in the spirit of asking questions, tell me why you’re disturbing her? Did I complain to you that I was tired of working?”
“Well because the alpha specific instructions were for two of you to do the work, with her doing the bulk of the work. You’re almost done, and she has done nothing”
“Again,” she stepped forward with a frown on her face. “Did I tell you I had any complaints?”

I looked back and forth between the two. It seemed like Ivy was even less fearful of the burly guy between yesterday and today. I wondered which he was. Yesterday, I was able to tell Today, my head was too distracted to pay any attention.
“You must want me to report you to the alpha.”
“Do whatever you please, Jace.” She shrugged.

“Aha! He was Jace. Then the other that was now standing behind Ivy was Jake.
“I’ll do just that.”
He turned on his heels, and I instantly knew I had to stop him before he went to blab.
“Wait please, Jace!” I called out.
He came to a halt, and turned around. “What?” He asked.
“Please don’t tell Alpha Ramon anything I understand you’re trying to do your duty, but I can explain what happened today. It won’t happen again.”
He scrunched his face and squinted his eyes. “You just said you can explain. Why don’t you explain before begging for mercy?”
“Well,” I began to scratch the back of my head. I wasn’t exactly sure telling him I was in the thraws of a dream would do anything for my case. “If you don’t tell him, I’ll bake you an apple pie!”
“Apple pie!!” The three of them said in unison, but with different intent.
For Ivy, her face looked like she was telling me I had lost my mind for even daring to think about making pies for anyone. Jaces was condescending. He probably thought I had never had to make anything in my life.
Jakes was surprisingly more warm. He even licked his lips. Perhaps, apple pie was his favourite
“Yes, apple pie.”

your mind?” Ivy and Jace said at the same time.
Their eyes wandered to themselves, and they looked at each other, and whipped their gazes elsewhere.
I take it Ivy wasn’t the biggest fan of the twins. I understood where she was coming from. They were not exactly friendly, but I could tolerate them. Especially Jake. He looked like he was no longer trying to stick to his alpha’s commands. At least, not in
the strictest sense.
“What did I do?” He asked.
“You must be crazy for trying to collect hush pie. Alpha Ramon will have our necks if he finds out you did that,” Jace hissed. “So that’s what you’re worried about?” Ivy snickered. “You should be more worried about getting anything, more or less, apple pie. No one is making anything for you swines. You don’t have a heart, therefore, you deserve nothing!” She stuck out her tongue, and jeered at them.
“You need to get that stick out of your ass!” Jace threw back at her.
“And slam it across your face, I know!” She returned.
Jake and my head movement matched as we looked from man to woman. The argument was getting even more heated, and I had no idea what to do.
“Okay, enough!” I suddenly screamed.
They both stopped, and turned to me. “Are you okay, Sonia?” Ivy asked.
I smiled, and waved. “I am. Just needed you both to stop the argument. I think I have this headache that has my head. throbbing.”

Chapter 24
“Let’s go,” she said.
“Where?” I asked.
“Outside. You need some fresh air for the headache. Sucks we only have fruits, I would have made some food for you.”
“Should I get the flour?” Jake jumped in.
“No!” Ivy and Jace screamed at the same time.
“Let’s go!” Ivy dragged my hand and led me outside. “Those damn twins!” She screamed.
“You really don’t like them, do you?” I laughed as we stepped out.
LIS
“I don’t hate them, they’re just so annoying. Always appearing everywhere. It’s
no wonder Alpha Ramon asked them to spy on
“I really think you should calm down. At least Jake is not that bad. Anyway, what are we going to do now?”
“Do you want something to eat? I could get some fruits for you,” she suggested.
“You’re way too nice to me, Ivy. I’ll be fine,” I said, looking up. “Hey, have you noticed the top part of this building can be reached?”
“Do you want to climb it? There’s a staircase behind!” She said, brightening up.
“Let’s do it!” I laughed as we ran behind.
