Chapter 43
RANDON’S FON
I stepped out of my room, and found Blane in the corridors, coming towards in
“Alpha,” he bowed when he got to me “I was actually coming to call you for the inspection. I thought you had forgotten”
Isnarled “Why would I forget something so important? I was just changing into my robe of authority. After the inspection, I would like to see the elder.”
“Okay alpha
We resumed walking at the same time, as we journeyed to the very first spot of inspection.
The sky was ablewing colour when I stepped out. In the old days, there would be someone to interpret that as something ominous
I didn’t subscribe to that kind of mindset, so I wasn’t bothered by it.
“The sky is an interesting colour this evening,” Blane said.
It would be a shame if my beta subscribed to those fear mongering tactics, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
“Let me guess, it means there is going to be a bloodbath?” Daniel said, creeping up on us from behind.
I swiftly turned around, and my hands were around his neck before he could take his next breath.
“Al–pha” he struggled to
to say, which only made me increase the pressure in his windpipe.
From the ground. I lifted him up, dropped him to the ground again.
Squeezing his neck for a few more seconds, I finally let him go.
He didn’t crumble to the ground, instead, he landed on his feet and bent to catch his breath.
O
“Don’t creep up on me, Daniel,” I warned after dishing out the punishment already.
“I’m sorry, alpha,” he said, regaining his voice.
Blane who watched the whole thing play out, grinned sinisterly when I gazed at him.
“Do you care to share the reason you’re smiling so much? Perhaps you also want my hand around your neck.”
“No alpha,” he quickly took a step back. “Il pass. I’m very good.”
“Pussy!” Daniel said, straightening up.
“I wasn’t the one screaming like a bitch” Blane threw back at him.
“That’s enough” I interrupted. “He’s still my beta, Daniel. Show some respect.”
“Sure alpha.”
frould hear dar sarcasm in his voice, but I didn’t pursue it.
The fact they had a mind of their own was my biggest reason for keeping them around me.
When the titles didn’t matter, they would still be there for me.
“Where am I going too first?” I asked, looking between both men.
“Let’s do the path first. I think you should have an idea what the
e entrance lane, which has just been reconstructed, looks like.” Blane suggested.
“Alright”
We went round in circles, and so far, I was impressed by what I saw Everyone had done a good job. From the meat selection, to the road reconstruction, and even the exterior decorations.

Finally, we stopped by the sacred ground where the festival was going to take place.
A large circle was already being drawn. Woods that would be used to make a big burnfire was being picked
“Alpha Ramon,” Sam one of the younger wolves, stopped to greet me.
“I can see you’re giving it your all. I don’t take any of this for granted.”
“I know you don’t
I encouraged the rest of the workers, then parted ways with Blane who had news from the other packs.
“I guess it’s just you and I now, Daniel.” I said, as we began our journey to where I was supposed to meet the elders
“Do you want to be left alone?”
“Nice try, except there’s
‘s no way I’m speaking to these elders alone. You’re going to serve as my anchor. Any time you see me about to lose my mind, your job is to pull me back. Deal!”
“Anything yuh want,” he replied,
It didn’t take long after we departed to the elders for Daniel to start to complain.
“Why do the elders choose to stay in this far quarters! They could move closer to the other buildings in the pack.”
“I don’t think so, I could very much lose it if they lived around.”
“True,”
Silence ensued, as we continued on our way. Few minutes later, we arrived to find them waiting for us.
The alpha finally graced our presence,” Chris, who opposed everything I suggested, said.
Ignoring him, I went directly to the seat, preserved for me, and sat. Daniel did the same on the seat beside me. “Good evening everyone,” I went straight to the point. If I could have it, I wouldn’t want to spend more than an hour here. “I don’t think th
there are many good things about this evening,” Levi, one of the oldest wolves in the pack, said. Everytime he spoke, I feared it would be his last words. But he couldn’t for the life of him stop talking
“And why’s that, Levi?”
“Because you have not done your due diligence, Ramon. You have not come to the elders for blessings. What you’re doing is building a foundation on a shaky ground. None of us can sit and watch you do it, Jenner, who had been dearest friends with my mother, said.
She would usually support the decisions of the elders in public. But in private, she would call for me and tell me all their plans behind my back.
“What is this building, and what is this shaky ground! I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
I lied. I had an idea. It was definitely about the festival of alphas. Didn’t Blane say they had their reservations? Well, I was going to hear it now,
“We hear your mate is in the pack, but you treat her less than a servant,” Rainbow, who didn’t care about being politically correct, said.
I couldn’t deny that hit me unawares. Sonia was the last person I expected them to discuss. I should have known this was an ambush. “You hear! Pray tell where you got this information from?” I asked patiently.
