Chapter 10
When I returned with the medicine, the drinking party had. already ended.
My boss was no longer here, reportedly carried off to a hotel.
I had thought Jasper left too.
I originally assumed he was just teasing me.

But as I passed by the private room, I discovered him still sitting in the corner, with the lights turned off.
“Mr. Knight.”
I turned on the lights and walked over to call him.
I found that he had fallen asleep sitting just like that.
Perhaps disturbed by the sudden brightness, he woke up again.
He opened his eyes, his gaze falling on me.
“You’re back?”
“Yes.”
I hurried over to him.
Chapter 10
“Were you waiting for me?”
“Yes, I fell asleep while waiting.”
A wave of guilt washed over me.

“I’m sorry, there was some traffic, and I didn’t expect it would take so long.”
“It’s fine.”
I quickly handed him the medicine.
“I’ll hold off on taking the medicine for now. Have the driver take me somewhere first, then he can drive you home.”
“Okay.”
He stood up, and we walked outside together.
Throughout the entire journey, we didn’t speak to each other.
“Mr. Knight, you transferred too much money to me earlier.”
“Hmm.”
“I’ll transfer it back to you. Though my bank card has a daily transfer limit of $5,000, so it might take several days.”
“Why are you avoiding me?”
I froze.
Chapter 10
Why was he suddenly asking this?
“I’m not. Isn’t this just normal conversation?”
I was indeed avoiding him, but I didn’t want to admit it.

He already disliked me so much, and I understood my position. I just didn’t want any further connection with him.
“Normal conversation?”
He smiled slightly.
I couldn’t find words to respond.
“Sometimes, you and the boss ask the same questions. Should my answers to him and to you be different?”
“They are different.”
His eyes fixed on me intently, as if trying to see through to my thoughts.
“Understood, Mr. Knight.”
“I actually don’t like you calling me that.”
“What should I call you then?”
He glanced at me, then fell silent.
Chapter 10
He just stared at me, for a full minute, before finally looking
away.
“Never mind, as long as the kid is happy.”
