Chapter 18
Let him follow me then.
From now on, I won’t say another word to him.
Though this doesn’t pose a threat to anyone.
He followed me onto the bus, then transferred to the subway with me, and finally escorted me all the way back to my apartment, where he remained standing outside without leaving.
“What’s going on here? The domineering CEO escorted you home again and is now smoking downstairs.”
Chloe was lucky enough to enjoy the view, standing on the balcony and staring at him without hesitation.
“Just ignore him.”

“This is exactly how romance novels describe it–the CEO stands below smoking, and after finishing his cigarette, he’ll come upstairs and pin his little wife to the bed.”
I…
“Should I stay somewhere else tonight to give you two some privacy?”

“Stop joking around. I get irritated just looking at him now.”
I told Chloe about what happened today, and she agreed that the man had gone too far.
However, Sara had no solution–reality is just that cruel.
Many wealthy people date freely, but when it comes to marriage, they
still choose partners introduced by their parents.
“Such bad luck. That woman is as annoying as a vixen, acts like a two–faced social climber, and comes from a rich family too.”
“It’s infuriating.”
I twitched the corner of my mouth.
“Rich is rich. We ordinary people should just live our ordinary lives well.”
Chloe looked at me.
“Sara, you care so much–you haven’t actually fallen in love with him, have you?”
Love?
I broke out in a cold sweat.
“How could that be possible?”
Chloe gave me a look.

“But the current state between you two is exactly like a couple having a fight.”
What kind of boss would follow you onto a bus and transfer to the subway to escort you home after you made him angry? In a normal situation, they’d send you straight to HR to collect your final paycheck.
“Honestly, I don’t know either.”
I was completely confused.
Ugh. So annoying.
I tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep, and finally changed Jasper’s contact name to “Mr. Knight.”
It was time to establish clear boundaries with these wealthy people.
During the following month, I still saw Jasper every couple of days.
However, I wouldn’t speak a single word to him except for work–related matters.
Even for work coordination, I had colleagues handle it.
The new intern was a young girl who was more than willing to do it.

My only daily interaction with him was transferring $5,000 to him every night.
I had no idea when I would finish transferring the $2.5 million.
Occasionally when my boss ran into me, he would ask:
“Sara, why haven’t you been appearing in front of Mr. Knight lately? Have you fallen for someone else?”
I worried he might find me annoying.
However, just two days later, my boss approached me again.
He said Jasper didn’t find me annoying at all.
I was at a loss–why did he have to ask about it?
Ryan recently broke up with his girlfriend and has been desperately trying to get back together with me.
“So who is this guy?”
“Were you sleeping with another man before we even broke up?”
“So you compared me with that guy and decided I wasn’t good enough?”
“You’re driving me crazy! You must get back together with me! If I ever see that guy, I’ll kill him!”
I let out a cold laugh.

“Yeah, good luck with that. Kill him if you ever see him.”
Oh, and my mom has gone crazy too.
She suddenly pushed ten men at me on WeChat.
“When treating heartbreak, inspirational quotes won’t help- you need a man.”
“These blind dates were carefully selected by me. Chat with them first. If they’re not enough, I’ll find more for you.”
To be honest, Ryan has been annoying me so much lately that I’ve actually considered going on these blind dates.
So I sent a WeChat message to one of the prospects.
Because I was so engrossed in our enjoyable conversation, I forgot to transfer money to Jasper that night.
At 1 AM, Jasper sent me a WeChat message.
“Asleep?”
I suddenly remembered.
I immediately transferred $5,000 to him.
“Yes, asleep.”
