Chapter 21
I didn’t listen and just left.

I didn’t know why I was angry, but after getting out of the car, I deliberately went to a pharmacy and bought a box of condoms.
After purchasing them, I felt so childish.
His car had long gone, and using the idea of buying a house as a way to provoke someone was truly ridiculous.
If he found out, he’d probably just coolly mock me: “Such a child.”
Before heading to the cinema, I went to the restroom and threw away the box of condoms.
The moment I discarded them, I suddenly felt like crying.
Why am I always moved by others‘ kindness, only to fall into this vicious cycle of trying to prove that others love me?
How did I become like this?
After composing myself, I set off. My blind date had already arrived.
He had bought milk tea and popcorn, and we went to the theater together.

Since we rarely chatted, I felt a bit awkward during the movie.
Halfway through, when the lead characters in the film were kissing, he suddenly leaned toward me.
“I want to kiss you.”
Me?
We barely knew each other.
I awkwardly dodged him.
However, he leaned in again, forcibly kissing me and even forcing his tongue into my mouth.
I was frightened.
And repulsed.
“I need to use the restroom.”
I fled in panic.
As soon as I stepped out of the theater, I saw someone.
“Finished already?”
It was Jasper.

My heart raced with fear.
I had planned to ignore him and walk past, but he called out to
- me.
“Let’s go. After you’ve seen enough, I’ll take you home.”
I stood there dumbfounded, not understanding why he suddenly appeared here or what he meant by those words.
Before I could think it through, my blind date rushed out. He first looked at Jasper, then turned to me, his pride severely wounded.
“No wonder you wouldn’t let me kiss you and talked about taking things slow. You had another man waiting outside all along.”
“What are you talking about? He’s my boss!”
“Your boss? Like workplace affairs between female employees and their bosses aren’t common these days? You’re just a flirt pretending to be innocent.”
Before he could finish speaking, Jasper’s fist connected with his face.
“You dare hit me? I’ll expose both of you!”

His jaw was so swollen he couldn’t even close his mouth properly–clearly, the punch wasn’t hard enough.
Jasper took off his suit jacket, settled me to one side, then walked back to continue beating the man.
I had never seen Jasper so angry before.

No matter what situation he faced, he always maintained a calm demeanor. But today, the ferocity with which he attacked made it seem like he wanted to kill the man.
“Jasper, stop hitting him!”
I was genuinely concerned. After all, Jasper was the company’s CEO. If someone recorded this and the video spread, the consequences would be severe and unimaginable. Once it went viral, my reputation would be destroyed too.
In my anxiety, tears involuntarily streamed down my face.
Jasper, who was in the middle of the beating, finally stopped when he saw me crying.
“Alright, don’t cry. I’ve stopped.”
While Jasper was comforting me, my blind date chose to call the police.
Half an hour later, the three of us sat inside the police station.
“Regarding defamation, extortion, and compensation matters,

please speak with my lawyer. I won’t accept private reconciliation.”
The blind date had originally planned to extort money from Jasper, not realizing Jasper had recorded their conversation. The extortion demand of $500,000 was enough to get him sentenced to ten years in prison.

The blind date’s face was bruised and swollen as he knelt on the ground, crying miserably.
“Sara, we had such pleasant conversations these past few days. Since we already know each other, could you please ask your boss for leniency?”
“You two were chatting these past few days?” Jasper’s anger visibly intensified.
“We barely talked, barely talked at all. I was the one who kept initiating contact.”
“I was wrong, I was wrong, sir.” The blind date pulled out his phone and handed it to Jasper. “All our chat history is here. Take a look.”
Jasper took the phone and quickly scanned through the chat history, his expression unreadable. After reviewing the messages, his face darkened before he deleted me from the man’s friend list.
I thought it over repeatedly, not wanting to escalate the situation. The man had tried to kiss me, which disgusted me,

and Jasper had avenged me. Teaching him a lesson was enough. Sending him to prison for ten years just because of one blind date seemed excessive. After all, most people who came to these blind dates had parents who knew my mother.
“Mr. Knight…” I hesitated, unable to get the words out.
“You want to plead for him?”
“Yes, his parents might know my mother, and this feels a bit inappropriate…”
Jasper didn’t say anything but eventually issued a letter of understanding. The condition was that the man had to find everyone who had recorded videos at the scene.
“Those people who recorded videos also captured evidence of you trying to extort me.”
“Understood! I’ll make sure they delete everything.”
As we were wrapping things up, my senior manager appeared.
“Jasper, weren’t you supposed to be delivering a white house to someone? How did you end up at the police station?”
The manager walked in and froze momentarily when he saw me. Noticing the blind date beside me, he immediately kicked him.
“You actually dared to try and kiss her? You’ve got some nerve. Go ahead and try now.”

The manager handled the rest of the matter.
“Jasper, you two…”
The blind date started shouting again. “Officer, look! They’re holding hands. I told you they have an inappropriate relationship!”
The manager struck him again. “Buddy, how many lives do you have to dare provoke him? You call the police just because they’re holding hands? Why don’t you call the police when your parents kiss?”
Jasper paid no attention and continued to lead me away by the hand.
