Chapter 4

“Dad, what are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be in Singapore today?”
Ryan hurried forward to greet him.
“Came back for something.”
The junior girl also ran over, grabbing Ryan’s hand and called out shyly.
“Uncle Knight.”
Jasper didn’t even glance at her, just stared intently at me.
To be honest, I was a bit afraid to talk to him.
I wanted to pretend we didn’t know each other.
However, the very thing I feared happened anyway.
“You left your scarf in the car.”
He held out a red scarf to me.
I touched my neck and only then realized how cold it felt.
“Thank you.”
Chapter 4

“Dad, what’s going on here?” Ryan came to his senses and said, “You went to see my dad again?!”
“I did go see him, and I was the one who drove her back. Is there a problem?”
Me?
Ryan?
The junior girl?
Panic washed over me.
But when it comes to these situations, older men are unmatched -they don’t even bother explaining when questioned.
I quickly offered an explanation:
“Your father and my company have a business relationship. The company held a dinner event tonight, and he gave me a ride back on his way here.”
Ryan listened to my explanation.
“Sara, you really know how to cause trouble for others!”
“Are you out of your mind? This is our company car. I returned to school in our company car. What’s wrong with that?”
When had I ever caused his father any trouble?
Chapter 4

“Stop making excuses. I’m warning you for the last time, stop bothering my dad. We’ve already broken up–what right do you have to do this?”
“You should know where to draw the line. No wonder your father didn’t want you when they divorced.”
In that instant.
My heart shattered completely.
I never imagined that people who once loved each other could say such hurtful words after breaking up.
My father choosing my brother over me during the divorce has always been something that bothered me deeply.
This secret, I had only ever shared with Ryan.
I never expected that one day, my complete trust in him would turn into a knife stabbing me.
Even though I try to appear indifferent, I couldn’t help but feel a lump in my throat.
Seeing our intense argument, the junior girl tried to ease the
tension.
“Ryan, even though you’ve broken up, she’s still our senior. Don’t go too far.”
“We shouldn’t make Uncle Knight uncomfortable.”
Chapter 4
“Hello, Uncle Knight. I’m Ryan’s girlfriend, Mia.”

Jasper still ignored her, looking at Ryan briefly before fixing his
gaze on me again.
Finally, he opened the car door.
“You take your girlfriend back. I’ll see her home.”
“Dad, why do you need to take her?”
Jasper stopped in his tracks.
“Shut up.”
“Leave the car here and have the driver take it back.”
“Why?”
“No particular reason. From now on, don’t drive my car, i your allowance is cut for this month.”
“Dad!”
and
I couldn’t bear to listen anymore and walked straight toward the
campus.
