Chapter 5
Halfway through my journey, I stopped walking, only to find Jasper still following behind me.
He followed me without saying a word.
“You don’t need to see me off.”
“Hmm.”
Ryan was absolutely right–I have no right to seek you out or cause you any trouble.
“Hmm.”

“I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I won’t see you again.”
He just stood there silently.
I turned and walked away.
After walking quite a distance, I realized he was still following

I started to feel anxious.
“Why are you still following me? Wasn’t I clear enough before?”
“I’ve returned your card, and you’ve seen the joke. Didn’t you

want your son to break up with me? We’ve broken up now. What else do you want?”
I truly felt utterly humiliated the entire day.
He didn’t say anything, just took out a candy from his inner suit pocket.
“Would you like some candy?”
I stood there dumbfounded.
It was an adorably cute big–headed doll–shaped lollipop.
How could a CEO like him carry such an adorable candy?
I remained silent, and he gave a somewhat helpless smile.
“I’m not very good at comforting people.”
“For what happened earlier, I apologize on Ryan’s behalf.”
“That’s unnecessary.”
He wanted to say something, but stopped himself, ultimately saying nothing and just asking me to wait a moment.
Then he walked to the dormitory entrance and knocked on the dorm supervisor’s door.
I wasn’t sure what he said, but the supervisor quickly opened the door.

I saw him walking back toward me, and I spoke harshly.
“Are you doing all this just to apologize for him? I wouldn’t forgive him even if I died.”
“I’m not asking you to forgive him.”
He said with a smile.
“Still such a child.”
“Who’s a child?!”
He laughed at my reaction.
“Fine, you’re not.”
“Go on up. I’ll leave once I see you get to your room.”

I clutched the candy in my hand, wanting to speak but stopping myself.
I’m not a child!
Then I ran up to my room with heavy footsteps.
I went to my room and stood on the balcony brushing my teeth. Glancing down, I saw him in his suit, smoking a cigarette while. walking away.
I couldn’t understand it.

Why did he apologize for Ryan?
Didn’t he dislike me and oppose my relationship with Ryan?
Yet now he gives me candy and apologizes–why?
Is he pitying me?
“Who are you looking at?”
Chloe leaned over.

“Wow, who’s that handsome guy? His back view is absolutely stunning.”
I told her to stop looking.
“His dad.”
“Ryan’s dad?!”
Chloe was thrilled and excited.
She quickly ran downstairs.
“Chloe!”
I couldn’t stop her.
She rushed to Jasper’s side in a second, spun around, and ran back.
