Chapter 7

Actually, there was nothing special about it.
In those 5 minutes, Chloe and I only greeted 4 people.
The content was both vulgar and full of violence.
Oh no.
I forgot my phone was screen sharing.
Apologize, just apologize.
I wrote another formal apology letter.
After submitting my letter, the boss stared intently, seemingly pondering something.
“Is Ryan your boyfriend?” he asked pointedly.
“Ex–boyfriend.”
The boss glanced at me, then shifted his gaze to Jasper sitting on
the sofa, deliberately raising his voice.
“Did you hear that? Ryan is her ex–boyfriend.”
Jasper paid him no attention.

The boss shook his head and continued questioning me.
“So you knew that Mr. Knight is your ex–boyfriend’s father?”
“Yes, I knew.”
“You knew?”

The boss seemed even more surprised, but eventually allowed me to leave.
As I reached the door and had just closed it, I heard the boss’s voice from inside:
“Jasper, is this the girl your son was dating that you mentioned. some time ago? The one you said was from a different social class?”
“What about it?”
“Didn’t you disapprove of their relationship? You said something about downward compatibility being troublesome and advised your son to think carefully. But now you yourself…”
I didn’t dare listen to any more.
I quickly returned to my workstation.
So that was why Ryan suddenly broke up with me?
Ryan and I had been dating for three years.
Chapter 7
Our relationship had always been relatively stable.

He never visited my home, though he did speak with my mother over the phone.
However, he never suggested taking me to his house, nor did he ever introduce me to his family.
Perhaps his father had always been against it.
Ryan’s sudden breakup recently might be because graduation was approaching, and certain practical issues were becoming
apparent.
I understand there’s a gap between my family and wealthy families, making their actions somewhat understandable, I
suppose.
But I still feel unhappy about it.
Why should dating be divided by social class?
When I encountered Jasper in the elevator, he looked at me and greeted me.
I didn’t say a word.
I rummaged through my bag for a long time and found a one–dollar coin.
I shoved it into his hand.

“I gave that lollipop to a dog. This is payment for the lollipop, returning it to you.”
“Goodbye, Mr. Knight.”

I deliberately stepped out of the elevator, then turned and left.
