Chapter 3
Thunder rumbled as heavy rain poured down outside. Raindrops collected in the delicate rose petals, spilling out and scattering as the wind whipped through.
Amid the downpour, my phone rang suddenly.
It was Ken.
I was not planning to answer, but Tim answered it and brought the phone to my lips.
“Mayson…”
Ken started to speak, but Tim and I started to make love.
Tears fell from my eyes as I bit my lip, but I could not keep quiet.
I snapped in frustration, “T–Tim!”
Tim ignored me, we got more intensified.
I cried uncontrollably.
Ken was irritated. “I told you, I’m with Jenny only out of concern for her illness. Do you really have to be so jealous and cry like that?”
I could not respond through my tears, and Tim added sarcastically, “Maybe Mayson’s just feeling really hurt.”
Ken sighed impatiently. “She’s being overly sensitive. Tim, I’m busy with Jenny, so please take care of Mayson for me. Calm her down, and make her publicly clarify that she edited those photos to defame Jenny. Jenny’s under a lot of pressure from people calling her a mistress.”
Jenny called out to Ken, and he hung up immediately.
Ken could not hear me break down. He was confident that I’d never betray nor leave him, no matter how much he hurt me.
The rain finally stopped after three hours.
I took a shower and left the room. My legs nearly gave out when we were waiting for the escalator, but Tim quickly caught me.
“I’m sorry, Mayson. I’d have been gentler if I’d known Ken never treated you like this in all your years together.”
The elevator doors opened, and we both saw Ken inside. Having just committed such a scandalous act, I felt a thrill mixed with fear.
Ken only frowned and asked, “Are you following me?”
Chapter 3
I leaned into Tim’s arms without hesitation and replied, “I have better things to do. You can meet people in a hotel, so can I.”
out of me. Even if you
Ken scoffed. “You? Come on, you don’t have to lie just to get a ri tried to seduce Tim, he wouldn’t be interested in someone like you-”
Tim raised an eyebrow and interrupted, “What if I told you I’ve been in love with Mayson for years?”
Ken replied disdainfully, “Tim, why are you going along with her nonsense?”
Just then, Jenny approached us, looking stricken. “Am I interrupting? I’ll leave. My life is worth less than her feelings!”
Jenny turned around and ran as she cried. Ken rushed after her, leaving me with Tim.
“He’s the one and only rich young kid who has a mistress and totally doesn’t care about his wife, Tim said.
Tim then kissed my lips gently, his ears turning red.
I might have believed his innocence if he did not act on me.
It was time for dinner, so Tim suggested a restaurant he knew. I agreed without hesitation.
The restaurant was packed. I checked my phone while lining up. A new message popped up in the group chat.
It seemed that Kep
unable to stand Jenny being criticized, had decided to take the blame. He said he had forced Jenny into a relationship and that the message from her phone was his doing, claiming he truly loved her but was pressured into marrying me.
Ken wanted to use that to make me leave him for good.
