Chapter 6
As I waited for my ride, Ken sent me a message.
[Mom’s headache has been acting up again these days. Go over and give her a massage. She also wants a home–cooked meal from you.]
Back when I was trying to marry Ken, I did everything I could to please his family. He had long grown used to my efforts.
He did not even bother checking if I was available or mention Jenny faking her illness. He simply expected me to drop everything and go.
I smiled bitterly, put my phone away, and headed to my new job instead.
Ken had given the big accounts I worked hard to secure over to Jenny, and demanded I brief her on every client’s preferences to make her transition seamless, but why should I just hand over everything I fought for?
Since no contract had been signed, I convinced the client to work with my new company instead. I also informed my old clients about my new position and managed to negotiate a special rate for them if they chose to follow me.
My new company was thrilled that brought in such a big account right off the bat. The sales director even came down to greet me.
“Ms. White, you’re finally here! The CEO’s been looking forward to meeting you!”
He escorted me all the way to the CEO’s office before he left. I had my introduction prepared, but as soon as I stepped in, someone grabbed me and pinned me against the wall. Chills ran down my spine, a scream almost escaped my lips before a hand covered my mouth.
“It’s me, Mayson,” Tim whispered as he kissed me, his hand slipping under my shirt.
I gripped his hand, flustered. “What are you doing here?”
“I just bought the company. The records online haven’t got updated yet,” he replied casually, pulling me onto his lap as he sat down in the office chair.
“Your waist is so small. I can fit one hand around it,” he murmured, his hand moving upward.
“Here, one hand can’t-”
“Shut up!”
I slapped my hand over his mouth as my cheeks flushed.
I tried to fumble with my buttons, realizing too late that he somehow undid them. The

more flustered I got, the worse I fumbled. Then, I felt his tongue brush against my palm.
I was flustered and jumped off his lap, but he followed, guiding my hand to brace against the bookcase.
“Tim, this is an office!”
“That’s exactly the point,” he whispered.
He moved slowly, but my tears fell out uncontrollably.
I wanted to scold him, but I could not raise my voice.
I tried to escape, but there was nowhere to go.
I panicked. “The door’s unlocked. Someone could walk in anytime-”
Tim leaned close and gazed at me. “Don’t worry. I’ve told them to leave us alone.”
HIs instructions sounded wrong. I would never be able to face my coworkers ever again.
I noticed how big the CEO’s desk was for the first time, how solid it felt, the softness of the carpet, and the pristine mirrors in the restroom that showed every detail.
Also, the solid wood bed in the lounge was elegant and expensive, but not sturdy enough.
When my phone rang, I felt a flicker of hope, but Tim was not ready to let me go. Finally, the sound of a loud argument outside and the office phone ringing nonstop broke the spell. Ken burst into the room, red–eyed with fury.
Apparently, his mother had called him. She complained that I showed my true colors after marriage, all my supposed care for her was fake, and that I did not even bother to check on her headache.
Ken was displeased and tried to call me to demand an apology, but I did not answer.
After searching around, he discovered that I had been staying with Tim for the past two weeks and was working at his company.
Ken felt something was off, so he stormed in to catch us red handed. He took in the disarray, the two of us standing there, and his eyes were bloodshot with rage.
