Chapter 5
My luck has been terrible lately. I ran into Zachary at the hotel.
When I met him, I was carrying my final project with me.
No matter what, I couldn’t afford to lose my final assignment.
He didn’t seem to notice my predicament and greeted me with a smile: “We meet again.”
“Weren’t you curious about my name before? I’m Naomi.”
“Naomi, Natalie?”
I fell silent, realizing he somehow knew my name.
“Come with me. I know there’s someone you don’t want to see,” he said, pointing at my chest.
Indeed, after my death, my ID was never canceled. If Caleb wanted to find me, he could, no matter how I tried to hide.
But right now, I really didn’t want to see him.
“Okay.” Perhaps it was impulsive, or maybe it was an instinctive trust in someone who had tried so desperately to save me, but I
followed him.
I said awkwardly, “My final project is due tomorrow at noon.”

Chapter 5
Zachary replied, “I’ll have someone deliver it for you.”
The car drove up to an estate. It featured a European–style castle with ornate iron gates that slowly opened. A nearly three–meter–tall fountain came into view.
The little voice inside me was practically screaming with excitement.
What’s wrong with having one more rich person in this world!
Zachary said, “Caleb won’t find you here.”
I
gave him a skeptical look and asked, “Why are you helping me?”
A thought suddenly occurred to me: did he somehow discover my secret of immortality and wanted to bring me here for secret experiments?
Zachary looked at me and smiled slightly, “Mrs. Stone, do you know what it means to follow your heart? I wanted to help you, so I did.”
“I won’t trouble you for long. Once I’ve figured things out, I’ll leave.”
“All right.”
