Our village was hidden, and always had been.
We needed the village elders permission to
leave.
Years ago, I wanted to see the outside world.
I met Mark on his exploration team. He was
bitten by a snake, and I saved him.
He wanted to pay me, but I didn’t want his
money.
We met again when some old lady falsely
accused me.
Mark saw me and got me out of trouble.
He taught me everything, and I fell in love.
The night I was going to tell him how I felt,
some people wanted to kill Mark. I blocked
the bullet, and got shot in my eyes.
Mark held me and cried for a day.
He prayed for me and promised to never
leave my side, and to be my eyes.
The past was hard, and he wasn’t the same
person anymore.
My grandmother was waiting at the edge of
the village.
I went over and hugged my family.
“Are you sure you’re done with Mark?” My
grandmother looked sad.
I was sure, and he made Brittany pregnant.
“It’s a lesson learned, you’re young, study
healing with me.”
I was only 30, with time to start my life over.
I wasn’t going to waste time on the wrong
person again.
