Deep into the night, as Hannah Raven slept soundly, she felt her clothes being ripped off. She opened her eyes in panic and saw that it was Wallace Elsher, her legal husband.
He looked as cold as ever. Despite his intimacy with Hannah, he showed no gentleness. Hannah could count on her fingers the few times Wallace had been home.
Her face blanched as she bit her lip, and sunk in the memories. Her mind went fuzzy, and she finally fainted under Wallace’s ruthless thrust.
When the morning sun peeked through the curtains, Hannah woke up feeling sore all over. She tried to smile but just ended up feeling sad
She turned to the side and, of course, Wallace wasn’t there. She was used to waking up alone. With a groan, she got up. changed her clothes, and tidied up the bed.
That was when she heard the door. She looked over and saw Wallace, all dressed up for the day, stepping into the room. Always in a high–ranking position, he had a kind of aloof arrogance in his eyes, as well as an innate sense of pride and dominance.
“You’re still here?” she blurted out, surprised.
“Take them.” Wallace didn’t really answer. He handed her something. Instinctively, Hannah took it and knew it was a box of morning–after pills.
She subconsciously tightened her hold on the box as she mumbled with her head lowered, “Wallace, I–I don’t want to have them…”
“Just do it,” Wallace cut her off with a frown. He hated her when she was all quiet and shy.
Hannah’s eyes turned gloomy as she pursed her lips. She took a pill and used last night’s water to wash it down. She didn’t want these pills. They always gave her a rash, but telling Wallace didn’t change a thing. He never cared.
Before Hannah could stand up straight, Wallace’s chilly voice hi her. “Hannah, we should get a divorce.”
She stared at him, her throat tight. “Why now?” she finally managed to say. She was thinking about their upcoming anniversary tomorrow.
Wallace’s reply was just as cool and harsh, Hannah, you know this wasn’t about love. I needed a partner, and you always obeyed my orders. That’s it. Besides, she’s back.”
The thing is, Hannah had no clue who “she” even was. But before she stumbled upon a picture in Wallace’s waltet and caught him whispering this mystery woman’s name in his sleep. Tears were on deck as Hannah reached for Wallace’s arm.
“Give me your price, he snapped, shrugging her off without a second thought.
Hannah’s hand just hung there in the air while she asked, her voice all hollow, “You really see me that way?” Inside, she mused, “So he thinks I married him for the cash?”
Wallace frowned. ‘Bit isn’t that how it went down? She was over moon when I gave her that credit card.”

“That villa in the suburbs, it’s all yours. Grab your stuff. We hit the courthouse later today, he declared.

Then his phone buzzed. Wallace snatched up his phone and suddenly, he was all smiles. “It’s handled. Be good, okay? I’m on my way,” cooed into the phone. Call ended, and Wallace was out without another word.
Hannah felt numb as she trudged down the stairs and out of the house.
The worried servant asked, “Mrs. Elsher, what’s wrong? Where are you going?”
Hannah croaked out hoarsely, “I’m good, just need some air. She roamed the streets without a plan, just knowing she couldn’t breathe if she stayed home one more minute.
At this time, her phone buzzed. Someone sent her a picture. Harah’s heart skipped a beat as she stared at a photo of Wallace in a close hug with some woman who had curves in all the right places. It felt like her heart was being torn to pieces.
She bit down on her lip so hard it started bleeding. A cold shiver ran through her, and feeling kind of numb, she wandered into the street without looking,
“Hey, watch out!” someone at the crosswalk yelled.
But it was too late. A truck slammed into Hannah.
