The silence in the CEO’s swanky sky–high office in the Elsher Group building was intense. The still air felt like a weight, hard to breathe around.
Wallace Elsher looked up from his desk at his right–hand man, Jones. His voice was even, his eyes cool, but something about it made James’s skin crawl. “Nothing? You got nothing after digging around for so long?” Wallace pressed.
James was sweating bullets. “Mr. Elsher, it’s like Mrs. Elsher just disappeared,” he stuttered out.
“Do you actually think people can just vanish?” Wallace gave hira sharp look.
James clammed up, thinking to himself that this was the wackiest thing ever. Despite all his digging, he had nothing on Mrs. Elsher
Just keep looking.” Wallace snapped.
James wiped his forehead and bolted out of there.
Wallace felt ticked off, yanked at his tie a bit, shrugged on his jacket, and headed home.
Deathly silence enveloped the mansion. He kinda missed seeing the house all lit up, with Hannah always there on the sofa, waiting for him.
- all he got was the dark.
He flicked on the lights and squinted as it suddenly got bright, then looked around the empty room. There was no one to hang his coat or fix his dinner anymore.
He put a hand over his chest. For the first time, he felt how empty and cold the house really was.
It was the first time he realized how cold the house was
After lounging at home, living it up without lifting a finger for a few weeks, Hannah was about to climb the walls from boredom.
Oliver had almost completely wiped her tracks, so he suggested Why don’t you go out and have fun?”
Hannah’s eyes lit up. She immediately called her best friend.
Cynthia Badden was shocked to get Hannah’s call. “What’s up? Why’re you calling?
Chilling on her porch swing, soaking up the sun, Hannah said, “let’s hang
out.”
Cynthia felt odd. Even though they’d been in touch over the past couple of years, Hannah never once asked Cynthia to hang out. She was always too busy with Wallace, her hubby. It drove Cynthia up the wall, all that talk about Wallace.
“Where to? The club?” Cynthia fished for an answer.
To her surprise, Hannah was totally down. “You got it.”
Club lights were all over the place when Cynthia spotted Hannal roll up in a slamming sports car. Hannah stepped out,

rocking some killer black heels. She whipped off her shades and bollered, “I’m here”
Cynthia froze, her mind racing: Is Hannah for real? Dropping the devoted wife act? Her edgy look today’s a showstopper
“So, you’re out, but what about your… Cynthia started to ask.
Hannah just shrugged. “It’s all good. My brother told me to kick back and have fun. Oh, and I forgot to say. I got into a swreck and lost like two years of my memories.”
“What?” Cynthia’s jaw dropped. It shook her, but then it clicked, and she was buzzing Hannah’s free from that clownt How epic is that? She let out a whoop, slung an arm around Hannah, and was all, “Let’s tear it up. Today’s gonna be litt
They stepped into the club–it was chill, no one was banging on the drums yet.
Cynthia raised an eyebrow, “Why don’t you rock those drums whole I break it down on the dance floor?” She paused before strutting away and checked, “You still know how to play?”
Hannah just flashed a grin and snapped. Just watch.”
When Wallace entered the bar, the unbridled and carefree Hannah got his attention right away. Her thick hair swayed with her movements, and the sunglasses on her head enhanced her beauty. She was killing it on the drums, looking like a total rock star, with a confident grin on her face. Wallace just froze.
Seeing his gloomy expression, those beside him looked in the direction of his gaze and stuttered, “Whoa, isn’t that Hannah? Wallace’s mood went dark. I’ve been turning the city upside down looking for her, and she’s been hiding out here in a club?
