Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Marcus stayed quiet, studying the newcomer. He recognized this man. ‘Hub, what’s the big shot heir of the Elsher family want with Oliver’s sister? he wondered.
Wallace’s sassy tone made Hannah’s blood boil. Her eyes went icy as she fired back, “Excuse me, sir, but do we know each other? Ever heard of manners? Did anyone teach you how to treat people!”
Marcus couldn’t help it–he cracked up at the scene.
Wallace’s expression turned even colder. He hadn’t expected Hannah to pop off at him like that. ‘Guess she was just putting on a shy act before, he figured. He tried to hold back his anger, stepped up to Hannah, grabbed her wrist hard, and snapped,
“Come with me.”
Hannah was boiling mad and pulled back hard against Wallace’s grip. “Are you crazy?” she yelled.
Wallace paused, looked her up and down with a sneer, and said. “Nice act. Keep it up.
Standing there with her wrist aching, Hannah was stunned. This guy must be nuts!”
Finally, Marcus, who had been silent this whole time, spoke up. “Mr. Elsher, you’re hurting her,” he said.
Wallace’s face twitched, and he threw out a dumb question. “So. Mr. Campbell, you really into a girl like her?”
By now, Hannah felt like a walking time bomb. She struggled even harder to get free, shouting. “Quit it with the nonsense. Who do you think you are, judging people?”
Seeing things escalating, Marcus jumped in, pulling Hannah to his side and telling Wallace, “You heard her, Wallace. She doesn’t even know you.”
Hannah gave Wallace a annoyed look and rubbed her sore wrist, thinking, ‘Ow, that hurt. What a jerk! Wait, so this is Wallace? Something Oliver said once popped into her head. “You’re that jerk?” she blurted out.
“Jerk?” Wallace said through clenched teeth, shocked that Hannah would call him that.
Hannah was sure she wasn’t wrong. What he just did totally made him a jerk! When she saw his face getting all stormy, she crossed her arms, put on a fake smile, and said, “No need to get so pissed off. I legit don’t know you. Hit my head in a car crash and can’t remember a thing”
“Memory loss?‘ wondered Wallace, frowning. He didn’t quite buy it, but her act was convincing, way different from before. He just glared at her, but she stood her ground.
After a moment, he chilled out, though his tone was frosty. “Guess it’s better for you, not remembering. Let’s wrap this up and get divorced at the courthouse tomorrow.”
The room went dead silent
After a beat, Hannah, totally shocked, pointed to herself and stuttered, “M–me?”
Wallace just gave a cold sneer. “Who else? Him?” He meant Marcus, obviously.
Marcus shorted.
Hannah felt blown away. Wait, Lve been married for two years? No way… Don’t tell me I have kids? Her heart racing, she

asked, “Any kids?
He just gave her a look–a mix of icy and patronizing.
No kids, then. And not a happy marriage, by the look of it. she mused. She couldn’t remember these past two years, but she felt the same as her younger self–wild and fearless, spoiled by the Raven family. She would chew out Oliver when mad: why would this moody dude be any different?
“Fine by me.” Hannah said, sounding just as moody. Taking a deep breath, she added, “TIl be there at the courthouse to sign those papers tomorrow.” Eyeing Wallace, she continued, “I said I do it, so you can go if that’s all you wanted.”
Wallace’s eyes went dark. “Just keep your word, he growled, then turned and walked out without a second thought.
“Ugh, what a nightmare. How did I even end up with him? Hannah thought to herself, itching to punch his lights out.
