Chapter 8
Celeste’s POV
The days in the silver prison dragged on as each day blurred into the next. My entire body ached from the constant silver contact, but I did my best to stay strong. After all, I was determined to sever my mating bond from him.
For several times, Leo came to visit me since he‘ d first locked me up. Each time, he tried to start a conversation. This time
was no different.
“Celeste, I want to talk,” he said, standing just outside the cell with his eyes looking softer than I had seen in a long
time.
I turned away as I let my silence speak for itself. It didn’t matter what the Alpha had to say. His words couldn’t erase the pain
he had caused.
He kept talking, “Please look at me. I

didn’t know things had gotten this bad. If I had-‘
Without further ado, I cut him off, “You would’ve done what, Leo? Would you have treated me like a Luna should be treated? Or would you have just kept choosing Violet over and over?”
My estranged husband went quiet, but he then stepped closer to the bars and said,
“I made mistakes, yes. But I still care about you, Celeste. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
I couldn’t help but scoff, forcing myself to meet his gaze with cold eyes as I told him,
“You didn’t mean for any of this to happen? You were too busy with her to notice what was happening right in front of you! You betrayed our bond. You betrayed me, Leo!”
Hearing my response, Leo clenched his jaw as he clearly struggled to keep his calm.
“I’m trying to make things right. But you

won’t let me,” he said through gritted teeth.
“Make things right? Do you think a few words can fix the fact that you locked me in here, killed my best warriors, and the fact that you betrayed me with Violet? It’s too late for that, Leo!” I angrily shouted at him.
When I said that, Leo was stunned. Just when I thought the Alpha would leave me alone, he didn’t. In fact, he did something that shocked me
The man opened the prison. Before I could do anything, the Alpha hugged me. When he did that, I couldn’t help but be shocked. Frankly, I had no idea to react to this.
He then said, “Celeste, I’m sorry. if you would just let me explain-”
“I don‘ t need an explanation. I needed a partner. A true mate. And you proved to me that you’ll never be that person,” I said,

telling myself to wake up and cutting him off.
His face darkened when he heard my response.
“Fine,” he muttered, stepping back.

“If that’s how you feel about me,” he continued.
As he turned to leave, a strange sensation prickled at the back of my mind. It was something from our mating bond. Before I could process it, a cold voice broke the silence.
“Well, isn’t this a touching scene.”
It was another familiar voice that I often heard. Violet‘ s voice. The woman looked at both Leo and I as she smirked. But that wasn’t my focus.
My eyes were looking at the silver dagger she held in her hand, the blade glinting dangerously under the dim light. That was when I knew that she wanted to do

something bad. I could feel Elia was howling angrily, but she was too powerless because of the silver prison.
“Violet, what are you doing here?” Leo asked, sounding both surprised and irritated.
“Oh, but I should. You see, I need to teach your little Luna here a lesson,” she said as she sneered while her eyes never leaving mine.
Before Leo could react, Violet lunged at me. Her dagger aimed straight for my heart. I tried to move, but the chains held me back, leaving me defenseless. The blade pierced my side, a searing pain exploding through me as the silver burned. my skin.
I screamed, my voice echoing off the cold prison walls. Leo finally snapped out of his shock. His eyes widened with horror as he lunged forward, grabbing Violet and shoving her away from me.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” he yelled at her, his voice filled with anger I
hadn’t heard before.
Violet stumbled back as she angrily shouted, “I’m doing what you‘ re too weak to do, Leo! She’s a threat to us, to our future! I’m the one who’s supposed to be your Luna!”
Leo’s face twisted with disgust as he looked at her and said, “This isn’t what I wanted, Violet. You… you‘ ve gone too far.”
But Violet just laughed, a cruel sound that sent chills down my spine.
“You‘ re pathetic. I thought you understood, but clearly, you‘ re too soft,”
she said.
However, Leo ignored his lover as he turned back to me.
“Celeste, stay with me. I’ll get help. I’ll fix this,” he murmured as he touched my face gently

overwhelming. The last thing I heard was his frantic voice, calling for the pack doctor as I slipped into unconsciousness.
Everything became dark.
In the darkness, a voice broke through, soft
but strong.
‘Celeste.‘
The name drifted through the void, pulling me back from the pain. This was through the mind–link. But It wasn‘ t Leo‘ s voice
or even Elia, my wolf. This voice was new yet familiar, but it filled me with warmth and strength I hadn’t felt in a long time.
‘Celeste, can you hear me?‘ the voice asked again through the mind–link, gentle and steady.
‘Yes, I whispered through the mind- link, feeling as though I was speaking from some distant place.
I asked through the mind–link, ‘Who…

who are you?‘
There was a pause, but the voice then replied through the mind–link, ‘It’s me, Albert.”
Albert. The name sent a spark through me, a sudden realization dawning. My childhood friend, the future Alpha of my pack, the Ivory Fang Pack.
‘Albert, how… how are you in my mind?‘ I murmured through the mind- link, almost in disbelief.
The voice chuckled softly before he continued through the mind–link, ‘It seems the Moon Goddess has plans for us, Celeste. We’re connected… you‘ re my
fated mate.‘
Shock rippled through me. Albert, my childhood friend, was indeed my second chance? It felt like fate, but a path I hadn’t dared hope for.

words strange yet comforting.
‘Yes,‘ he replied through the mind–link, his voice filled with a gentleness that made my heart ache.
He then continued through the mind–link,
‘I’m here, Celeste. And when I found out what happened, I couldn‘ t just stay
away.‘
My thoughts drifted back to the prison, the pain in my side.
“They… they attacked me and killed our warriors. Leo, he… he’s changed, Albert. He even let Violet hurt me, I told my second fated mate through the mind–link.
There was a low growl through the mind- link, which made me realize that I could hear Albert’s rage.
‘I’ll make sure he pays for this, Celeste. I’m coming for you, Celeste. I’ll avenge you. I’ll make sure he’ll pay the price!‘ he promised me through the mind–link.

As his words faded, I felt a gentle pull. It felt like a promise. So, I let myself sink into that warmth, feeling safe for the first time in a long time.
Not long after that, I woke to the blinding light of the room I used to live with. The pain came again. While my vision was blurry, I could make out that there was a figure hovering over me that muttered something I couldn’t quite hear.
It was the pack doctor, Lord Alistair Howell. Despite his old age, he worked quickly. After all, I could see his hands were moving with practiced skill as he tried to stop the bleeding.
“Stay still, Luna. You‘ ve lost a lot of blood,” he murmured quietly as he focused on tending my injuries.
Meanwhile, I forced myself to focus. The memory of Albert’s voice in my mind like a distant dream, but I knew it was real. Or, rather, I hoped it was real.

“Doctor, please… get me out of here,” I said to him.
The doctor’s face softened with pity, but he didn’t answer as he focused on treating my wounds instead. Again, I could feel my strength waning. But there was a figure that shocked me.
It turned out to be Leo.
“Celeste, I’m so sorry. I didn‘ t… I didn’t know it would come to this,” he whispered, stepping closer.
I stared at him, disbelief and anger boiling up inside me.
“You let her hurt me,” I said, my voice filled with bitterness.
Leo looked down, shame flashing across his face.
“I know. I made a terrible mistake. I should‘ ve listened. I should’ve been there for you,” he murmured, his voice. barely audible.

But I shook my head weakly as I told him,
“It’s too late for apologies, Leo. You
chose her over me. You chose this life over
us.”
The Alpha opened his mouth as if to say something, but he then closed it like he knew it wouldn’t do any good.
Still, he told me, “Celeste… please. Just give me one more chance.”
I turned my head away. My feelings for Leo was over. Frankly, I no longer had any feelings for him.
What I felt for him instead was nothing but disappointment. It was sad to see him like this, but he made his own bed. But that was
no longer my problem.
‘Goodbye, Leo,‘ I thought to myself as I drifted into sleep.
