Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Hayden was standing in the doorway, making small talks with my mom, and she was laughing at whatever he was saying.
“Hey,” he greeted me as I approached them. He look in my appearance, then laughed. This wasn’t one of his fake laughs or smirks. It was a genuine laugh, and he looked really good and handsome.
My eyes were settled on his check, or more precisely, the dimples on his cheeks. This guy was really blessed with good genes.
“Hayden!” Asher exclaimed.
“Hey Champ.” He kneeled down to Asher height, and they both did some weird handshakes. Asher had the brightest smile when he saw Hayden.
When did these two get so close! I wasn’t the only one who had questions, my mom did too, but she had a smile on her face watching the two boys
Interact.
“Have a nice day at school. My mom waved us off, and I got out of the house, walking side by side with Hayden till we got to his car. We got in, and he drove off
I didn’t know what to say why was he here? He is not here for sex or something like that, right?
uh… I heard Maddie telling Dylan that she wasn’t going to give you a ride to school. I stopped by to check if you were okay. I sent you a text first. but you didn’t reply.” He says it after a second
Text. What text. I opened my bag to bring out my phone and found out he had actually texted me.
“Oh, I didn’t check my phone.” It’s not like I had another ride.
“You look different, good but different, his eyes ran down my body, lingering on my exposed legs.
“I was trying to make a statement, but it didn’t seem to work.” I pouted at how miserable it went
Hayden laughed, looking at me before looking forward as he drove. How was your night?”
It was fine, and yours” I asked, and he smiled and replied.
It was fine as well”
“I was thinking, maybe you’d like to hang out with me later today after school,” he asked, flicking his eyes between me and the road
I can’t I say, and his smile dims: “Maybe tomorrow.
A grin graced his face. “No problem, then tomorrow.
We got to the school, and Hayden parked in his usual parking lot. I got down, closing the car door as Hayden came out too. Students around the premises stopped to stare, surprised to see us together since we couldn’t stand each other. Whispers moved as students talked among themselves, clearly talking about Hayden and me
I flipped my hair, not giving them the time of day 1 waved Hayden goodbye, making my way to my locker to drop my things and get the things needed for First Class of the day.
-So what is going on b
on between you and Hayden? Sofle whispered to me, and we were sitting at our usual lunch table with Maddie beside me
Dylan, Daniel, and Hayden were also here; they have started cating lunch with us without anyone inviting them. I glanced around the table, trying to see if anyone was listening. The boys seemed occupied with their chatter.
Nothing.” I said quickly, keeping my voice low, I focused my attention on the fries on the table.
“Krally.” Sofie raised her brows, not believing a word I said.
“How did you guys end up coming to school together!” Maddie asked, looking expectantly at me.
“Our parents want us to hang out and be friends. So we thought it wouldn’t be that bad if we were a little civil with each other”
“Wait, you guys agreed to be civil” Maddie asked, shocked, with the same expression as Sofie.

“yeah. It was Hayden who decided to make a truce.
“I find it hard to believe you. Maddie looked at me, trying to see if it was a prank or not.
“What are you girls whispering about?” Daniel’s voice interrupted us.
“Hayden and Bree called in a truce.” Sofie voiced out, still surprised.
Dylan and Daniel’s eyes widened, and they shifted their gaze from me to Hayden and from Hayden to me. Hayden looked at me, and I tried giving him a signal with my eyes, hoping he would play along
“Dude, is it true!” Dylan questioned.
“Why are you guys making it a big deal? It’s not like we are getting married. We just called it a cruce and decided to be friends for our family.” Hayden casually says this, leaning back on his seat nonchalantly.
Thank God.
“Wow, I totally didn’t expect this The three boys fist bump each other.
They were like five years oki.
“So no more bickering between the two of you. Sofie pointed her black–painted manicure finger between Hayden and me.
“Yeah, that’s the purpose of a truce, Sofie. I say, stuffing some fries in my mouth. Maddie just quietly ate her lunch; she and Dylan were feeding each other, talking, and laughing.
Young love!
“I don’t know if you need to know this or not, but Sophie is throwing lasers at you. She could literally glare your head off.” Sofie used her head to nod in the direction Sophie and her meanies sat. I turned back along with the rest of the table and caught her eyes on me, and her glare intensified.
Her eyes moved from me to Hayden, and she sent hum a flirtatious smile, adjusting the short skirt she wore, making it even shorter so that if you looked closely, you could see the red lace pants under it
Desperate much.
We all cringed, turning away from that terrifying view. “God, I need to wash my eyes with bleach.” Maddle says, shivering in disgust.
“I can’t believe you dated her.” I said this to Hayden, and he cringed also.
