Chapter 27
I found myself on the floor next to the bed with a blanket on top of me when I woke this morning. Don’t ask me how I got there. I wasn’t sure
Letting out a grunt i reached for my alarm clock and turning it off. I used my bed as a support to stand up. I lay my upper body on the bed and my lower body on the floor.
I sighed as I got up from this uncomfortable position. After my shower, I threw on jeans and a white top that had the inscription Rich forever at the front. I wasn’t in the mood to the my hair, so I decided to braid it. The braiding ended about midway down my back. I got downstairs with my school bag, then headed out to the front door.
My moth and Asher had already left, they had a parent day at Asher’s school today, which meant I was in charge of locking the door I made my

1 walked into the homeroom and sat in the back seat next to Maddie Sofie wasn’t coming today as well, but she was already better. She just needed
a day to herself to get fully energetic. Maddie, on the other hand, had a big smile on her face and smiled back at her.
“What’s the happy occasion?” I asked her, realizing afterwards that I probably sounded like the world’s biggest pessimist.
“Oh. I don’t know” she paused. “Maybe because tomorrow is Friday, meaning the beginning of the weekend and our fun–free day at Dylan’s cabin.” she said, getting all super happy again.
1 couldn’t help but smile at her excited face. “We are going shopping; I already told Sofie, so she would meet us at the mall. We also need to go to the spi I feel like my skin is dry,” she said again.
“When were you planning on telling me about this? I only knew of us going to the mall. I questioned and laughed.

“I did plan on telling you during lunch, but I just could not contain my excitement I let out a laugh. I had no problem going to my skin needs a little bit of treatment.
“Have you seen Hayden today?” I asked Maddie after so
some time. I was standing beside |
ide her as she went through her locker.
Instead of answering, she turned to look at me with a narrow smile. “Why are you suddenly looking for Hayden? I know you guys are friends, but I doubt you are that close to looking for one another in school or at home,” she asked me suspiciously.
“You know we are partners for our English project: we need to talk about our reviews. That’s the reason why I’m asking “I shrug, trying to look unaffected.
“Oh yeah. I totally
Rot about the both of you being partners”
“So have you seen him today?” I inquire.
“Sadly, no, but I can ask Dylan for you.”
“No, it’s okay, I’m sure I will see him later today. I dismissed her offer.
After the second period, Maddie ordered me to stay quiet and not
sot tell Sofie about our spa day, as she wanted to surprise her. I nodded in agreement. We moved on to our second class for the day, and I was able to spot Hayden in the hallway, I smiled at him, but his face was pressed
with no hint of emotion.
The bell rang, signalling the beginning of the next period. I turned around for a second to ask Maddie to wait up. I wanted to talk to Hayden aboun the way he left yesterday when we went to check up on Sofie. I tried calling him, but he didn’t answer, so I thought of talking to him during school
I turned back to where I had last seen him, but he was already gone. It looked like he was avoiding me, but why would he? I thought we were actually becoming friends.
Nevertheless, I plan on having it out with him, I don’t know if I did something wrong that annoyed him
I hated the fact that he was pissed at me. It’s a good thing we are going to the cabin tomorrow. There was no way he could avoid me forever.
I walked over to Maddie, who was waiting for me at the door, and we walked to our next class. I took a seat and started talking to Maddie when the teacher walked in.
“Good morning, class he greeted. “Just because it’s my last class for the week doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done. Take out your books and prepare to solve some problems.”
ne groaned in disdain but followed his instructions. The math teacher walked to the board and wrote down the work we had to do.
easy for me since I had already solved the equations related to the topic before, but that didn’t mean it was fun

“God! Do I hate math! Everything about it is just confusing” Maddie groans out, tapping her head lightly on her desk as she occasionally lets out a sigh: 1 laughed at her dramatic reaction, even though I fully agree with her.
give you been minutes to finish up before we start a new topic of the day”
Ugh more math.
I quickly solved the problem given to me while Maddie had put her pen down and was laying her head on the desk. She didn’t seem to care, and the teacher didn’t notice either. She was basy going through some notes on her desk.
After about ten minutes, I was already done with the solution. I tapped Maddie on the shoulder, making her sit up. I slid her my book, and she sent me a grateful smile, writing down the solutions on her nose.
“Thanks” bestie; I can totally count on you” she says, continuing to write down the solution.
It wasn’t until five minutes after the bell rang, signifying the end of the class. We all got up, dropping down our books at the front desk before walking out. We were to come get it after school or the next day.
Maddie and I parted ways; she had biology while I had bad English. I walked in the direction of the hall, hoping Hayden would come since we were partners. I walked into the classroom and took a seat at the back. The class was noisy as students talked among themselves; some talked about their assigned books with their partners, while others talked to their friends about silly things.
I sat with my books brought out, and my eyepiece was plugged into my phone and connected to my ear. Lawaited for the English teacher to come: about a second later, the door swung open, and Hayden walked in.
A smile stretched across my face, and I raised my hand to wave at him, only for him to walk past me, ignoring me as he took a seat behind me. I tumed around to face, my mouth parted open to say something, but was cut off by the sound of the door, and this time it was our English teacher walking in. I face the front of the classroom with a dejected look, letting out a low sigh.
Class went by faster today than usual, thank God. I was feeling a lide down with Hayden ignoring me, but I was glad Sofie, Maddie, and I were able
to spend time at the mall.
Retail therapy is the best, I tell you.
“Thanks.”Maddie smiled at the cashier, grabbing her shopping bag and receipt. We each had our hands filled with bags as we walked out of the
We put those bags at the back of Maddie’s car booth, then got in as she drove off. It took an hour before we got to the spa. It was a private place, and you can only get a reservation if you book carly.
Maddie told us she had booked it a week ago, which is why she was able to get an early appointment as well.
We got out of the car, making our way towards the entrance, and when we got inside, we were met with the receptionist. After saying our greetings, Maddie gave out her name, and we all stood waiting for the lady at the desk to confirm our reservation. She scrolled through the laptop in front of her, and a smile filled her face. She raised her hands to direct us into a room.
We walked in, discarding every piece of clothing in our body, and put on the bathrobe given to us. We were then directed to a door in the changing room. Three elderly women stond waiting for us at each side of the massage chair.
Thank God, I toully didn’t want any man looking at my body
We each took a seat before laying on our stomach, and the women began their jobs.
“It feels so nice to hang out like this.” Sofie said, and her voice vibrated through the room as she let out a contented sigh.
“Tell me about it; I ache all over my body. I sighed as well as the woman poured oil on me, massaging my
back..
I’ve been so stressed out with school, and it has only been two months” Maddie groaned. “How am I supposed to last the remaining months”
“It’s our last year in high school: you just have to endure it.” I responded.
It’s not like we had any other choice,
“I can’t wait till we graduate so that I can focus there on what I love Maddie says
has always loved fashion and design. That was one of the things that kept her happy, while Sofie was into art. She was a great artist, and I know ne day they would both be the best in their various industries. I was going for medicine. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, but I can’t help but and because, after high school, we were all going to different universities.
Mane was in the United Kingdom. Harvard University, Sofie was the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Maddie was the College for Fashion

was going to mas thrin a lot, that was certain. Ekmowe we could easily FaceTime each other, but it wouldn’t be the same as hanging our with each other like this
Speaking of graduation, homecoming is next month” Sofie chipped in excitedly.
וי
“Tell me about it” I groaned.
“We know Machlie iv obviously going to go with Dylan, which leaves the two of us Mablic murmured to herself after listening to Sofie.
“Did you say something. Makher Sote quipped.
“I said. Why don’t you go with Daniel while Bree gors with Hayden? It’s that simple.”
“I don’t think that’s a great idea, we don’t know if the buys already have a date of their own.” I counter sick.
“That’s true; we should ask them tomorrow then. Sabe sanggested.
The rest of our time was spent in silence, our eyes closed, enjoying every moment in the spa. I spent close to two hours here, and when it was 5 pm., Maddie offered to drive us home. She dropped Solie first at her place before driving off to mine, I thanked her, getting out of the car.
I waved her off before entering my souse. I kissed my mom and Asher on the clerk, then ran up the stairs to freshen up. I changed into a big shirt and plopped myself down on my beil drifting off to sleep.
