I was about to step out of the school when I felt my phone vibrate in my arms, and my ringtone position by Ariana Grande rang out loud, echoing around the empty hallway. I checked the caller ID before clicking on the answer log and placing the phone close to my ear
“Hi Mom” 1 greeted. I could hear voices in the background, but I couldn’t understand what they were saying, Judging from how tiny the voice was. I could tell it was Asher.
“Hey sweetie, How are you?” My mom asked in her motherly voice.
Tm good, what about you, dad, and Asher!”
“We are doing great, Asher is having a blast. He really loves it here, this place is magnificent. I had no idea the King’s were that rich” She says that in one breath, you could hear the excitement in her voice
“Tim glad you are all having fun.” I had a smile on my face. “When is the party!”
“It’s in a few hours.” She answers. “Forget about us, how are things with you and Hayden? Are you comfortable living with him?”
“It’s way better than Aunt Vickie’s place, and things are okay between Hayden and me. We have grown close to each other.” I could hear two different voices squealing. One was definitely my mom, and the other didn’t need a genius to let me know that it was Victoria, Hayden’s mom.
I rolled my eyes at this. If they find out about the both of us dating each other, I won’t be surprised when they start planning our wedding. I knew they had interior motives when they brought me to the king’s house.
Our moms were trying to set us up, playing matching makers, having no clue what was going on between Hayden and me sweetie” I could hear someone whispering to my mom, and she whispered back
“What time will you be coming back?” I asked, changing the subject as I made my way out of the school.
I spotted Sofle waiting for me, resting in her car. I waved at her, pointing to my ear, and she waved back, nodding her head.
“That’s so good to hear.
“We should be back before you close from school on Friday. So get your things ready tomorrow. She replied. I sighed, defeated. I had already gotten used to sleeping beside Hayden, and now I wasn’t sure if I could sleep alone on my bed with him by my side

“Bye, Mom.” I ended the call. I continued to make my way to where Sofie was until a figure jumped in front of me, blocking my way. Irritation crossed my face when I saw who was standing in front of me.
I internally groan, letting out a series of curses both in English and Spanish, before putting on my best fake smile,
“What can I help you with, Sophie?” I was already tired from school work and the Maddie sicuation. I didn’t need her to add to it.
She scoffed, twirling her hair. “You don’t need to be so rude.” Whatever body perfume she was using burned my nostrils
“Is there something you want, Sophie, because I doubt you blocked my way just to talk about my attitude? I dropped the fake smile, attempting to make a getaway, but of course, it didn’t work.

“It would be pointless talking to you, and I have other important matters than standing here chit–chatting with you.”

1 shrugged, continuing to make my way to Sofie, but stopped after a few feet. I knew I should just let it go, but I always hated not having the last words and turned back to her.
“Sophie, has Hayden ever talked to you or acknowledged your presence in school or outside?”
She looked confined, probably scanning those emply brains of hers to come up with an answer. I knew she found it hard to reply because Hayden hardly looked at her side.
“Thought so I smiled slyly
She stumped her heels on the ground and turned away, storming off in the direction she had come from. I watched her walk to her car, getting in. E waved at her with a smirk on my face when she looked in my direction. She glared at me before driving off of the school premises at full speed.
“What’s up with Miss Queen Bee?” Sophie asked, watching Sophie’s car drive down the streets,
“Beats me.” I replied, getting into the car.

“She wants me to break up with Hayden” I scoffed, shaking my head. “Apparently, Hayden loves her, and she is the right fit for him

We pulled into Maddie’s house, and Sofie parked her car before we both got down. We walked to the front porch, and I clicked on the doorbell waiting for someone to answer, but ended up waiting for five minutes with no response.

I tapped Sofie’s shoulders, pointing up to Maddie’s window. She scoffed when Maddie tried to hide, not knowing she had already been caught
“I can’t believe she actually thinks she can hide from us pretending not to be home.” Soße says, bringing out a bunch of keys, I gave her a look. wondering what she was doing with so many keys
She took out one, putting it in the keyhole of the door, and it opened. I gave her a questionable look as we both stepped in
“Should I be worried that you have our keys in your school bag?” I asked her, and we both made our way upstairs to

“Maddie’s mom gave me a key when we were in junior high so that I could get easy access to the fridge. She said, “I could as well have the keys sincr Tate most of their food in the fridge.” She shrugged, and I laughed. “You know I have a weakness for food,”
What about my house! I don’t think I saw it there with the other keys.” I point out
Oh, I took a pair from your place [laughed. I guess that was why we were friends, our brains function weirdly.
We walked into the room to find it empty. Sofle and I looked at each other before making our way to the closet, only to find her all curled up like a ball with her hands chapped to my mouth. 1 gestured with my hand to come out. She sends us a sheepish smile, slowly making her way out of the
closet to take a seal on the bed.

11 crossed our hands to our chests, staring at her. No one saud anything while Maddie avoided looking in our direction.
“Okay, Maddie, what is going on?” She spoke first, breaking the silence.
Thave no idea what you are talking about Maddie immediately responded, her eyes stared at the wall behind our backs.
You spoke badly to Bree about Hayden, telling her to break up with Hayden. Sounding all jealous. “Sofie pointed it out, but Maddie said nothing and kept her mouth shut, nervously twirling her hands together.
I couldn’t take it anymore, so I took a seat beside her. “Are you in love with Hayden, Maddie?”
Her eyes widened, meeting mine for a
moment. “Not really,”
“What does it mean?” Sofie took a seat beside me
“I had a crush on him before I dared Dylan
Sone and I looked at her, surprised. How come we had no idea she had liked him for such a long time! “I had no idea why you didn’t say anything.” 1 asked her, confused.
“Hayden was with Sophie at that time, and after they had broken up, all he did was move from one girl to another. She explained.
“I’m guessing you are still in love with him” Sofie asked her.
I don’t love Hayden, I only had a crush on him”
“I’m confused. Why would you lie about sleeping with him and saying things to me?” I looked at her with furrowed brows
“I was angry that you didn’t tell me about both of you, and I guess I was a tiny bit jealous, but that doesn’t justify my action toward you, Bree, and I’m sorry. I keep beating myself up about it and can’t even face you both.
Then why did you break up with Dylan, telling me you were in love with someone else?” All this was just so confusing. What the hell was going on?
“I think I’m pregnant.”
