Chapter 48
Claws dragged on really slowly, but thankfully we were in our last class for the day. My mother already texted me, saying they were already at home. She told me to come straight home, my things were already retrieved from Hayden’s place. I was a little disappointed that I wouldn’t get to see him before I leh today, coach Pete is bring strict on them, said the scouts, who were coming for their next game, which is making the boys anxious, They didn’t come for lunch since they went for practice, except for Oliver. Right now, we were in our history class. Sofie and Maddie sat on both sides of me, with Oliver behind me. Neither of us were watching the movie being played on the screen as we whispered amongst ourselves
“Have you talked to Dylan yet?” I whispered to Maddie, and she shook her head.
“Why” Sobe asked, puzzled.
Tend up chickening out every time I see him, she sighs. “I just don’t know what to say to him.” “You could always say the first thing that comes to mind. I’m sure it will get his attention. It’s not like it’s your fault you thought you had a bun in the oven Oliver chipped in leaning forward to our
The three of us turned to look at him. Maddie and I had a surprised look on his face, while Sophie looked sheepish “Oops.” Oliver whispers. sending Sofie an apologetic look
“He came
came over yesterday to my place. We were hanging out together: he wanted to know what was up between you and Dylan, and I sort of spilled everything out without realizing it. Sorry? She gave Maddie her best puppy eyes, with her lips downward.
“It’s okay.” Maddie replied, waving it off. Though, I would like to know why Oliver came to your place to hang out in your room” She asked, air- quoting the words.
“Yeah Sofie, I would also like to know.” I watched as Sobe’s face turned red, avoiding every eye contact from Maddie and me, while Oliver had his left hand placed beside the back of his neck with an awkward smule on his face.
“I guess you weren’t the only one keeping secrets, Bree” Maddie says in a sassy voice, watching the two of them like they were in an interrogation
Toom
“You’ve got a lot of explaining to do. I said sternly to Sofie, and she gulped nervously, fiddling with her fingers. “And don’t think you are off the hook too. Oliver. I will get back to you” 1 pointed two fingers at my eyes before pointing them in his direction.
He quietly laughed nervously, looking anywhere but the three of us.
“Anything fun and amusing going on there, Miss Parker. The history teacher called out from the front of the class, making all eyes fall on me.
I rolled my eyes before replying. “No, ma’am” 1 had a fake smile plastered on my face.
“I would have thought otherwise with the way the four of you were whispering, giggling, and laughing among yourselves”
“We were just talking about the movie.
And what exactly is the movie about?” She questioned, both hands folded across her chest. My lips parted ways, but nothing came out as I stared at the screen in front of the class. Okay! I had no idea what the movie was about. The smile on my face urriched even more while the rest of the crew tried to stifle their laughter. “Alien invasion.
She scorned me, clearly not impressed by my answer. “Pay attention, the four of you” She pointed at all four of us, and I saluted, winking at her.
The bell rang, signifying the end of class for the day. I packed up my things, waiting for the others before making our way to the door. I smiled at my history teacher, but instead she threw a glare my way, making me roll my eyes,
“You, my dear, are full of all sorts of crazy” Maddie whispered, and we all laughed, leaving the school premises.
When I got in front of my house, I saw the familiar car of my dad parked at the entrance. I squealed, racing to the door. I wasted no time in going in; the smell of the wonderful aroma of spagheni filled the house, and 1. could also hear the sound of the TV playing one of Asher’s favorite. Sponge Bob episodes.
I walked into the sitting room and saw Asher sitting on a chair, his attention strapped to the TV, munching on a plate of cookies. His eyes lit up when he saw me. He dropped the plate on the chair and got down, racing towards me.
1 stretched my arms wide open for him to jump into, twirling him around as he giggled.
1 missed you so much, big man” I cooed, putting him back down.
“I missed you too, Bree.” Asbergiggles
“I hope you had fun.”

Yes. I had some fan, Leat a lot of delicious food, mom and I went touring, and we all stayed in a big hotel. He says it all at once, with excitement rolling all over his fare
“One at a time, big man” I blip his nose, making him giccle again. Why don’t check on mom and dad? Then you can tell me about all the fun you had Okay” He nods, racing back to his seat
I made my way to the kitchen, my mom was there, close to the stove. I walked towards her, wrapping my y arms around her waist with my head resting on her back. She turned her head slightly with a smile on her face.
“Hey, sweetie, how was school!” She asked as I pulled away from her to take a seat on the stool.
“Sull the same. What about you? How was the party! Asher couldn’t wipe the smile off his face when he talked about the trip
are of us. She says this,
“We all had a lot of fun, the party was so fancy. Filled with so many sophisticated people, Victoria made sure to take good care running her hands through my hair
“Where’s dad?” I thought I was going to see him when I walked in, since his car was parked outside.
“Your dad is asleep. You can talk to him when he wakes up.” She goes back to the stove, staring at the sauce.
“Okay, I need to freshen up first.” I took a plate from the rack, placed two cupcakes on it, and then took out a bostle of Coke from the fridge before making my way upstairs.
Throwing my bag at the side of the bed. I took off my clothes, entering the bathroom for a quick shower. After I was done, I changed into a comfortable shirt that belonged to Hayden and a short. I plopped into bed, munching on the cupcakes and coke.
When I finished my homework, 1 laid back on the bed, my eyes slowly drifting close, welcoming the dreams.
When I woke up again, it was already 6:30 in the evening, and my dad was already awake. We had dinner as mom and Asher talked about the trip. telling me about the wonderful places they had gone and the things they had done. We all laughed, talking amongst ourselves.
I really did miss them.
When dinner was over, I made my way back to my room. I made my way to my desk to take a seat, reading through the Romeo and Julier book since we still had to present it at the end of the semester.
I was trying hard to stop myself from sleeping when I fell footsteps approaching me from behind. I sulled, using my eyes to look for anything that I could use as a weapon. The footsteps drew near until the person stood behind my back. I clenched on the book in my hand, ready to stream, when warm hands covered my eyes
“Guess who?” A deep, familiar voice says I smiled, recognizing the familiar smell of cologne.
