I returned home for the day to find a note from my mom.
“Hey honey, I won’t be back till later in the evening. Asher is having a sleepover at his friend’s place. I know you told me you were going over to Maddie’s for the day, so I left you some money for dinner and in case you needed to get something. Text me when you get to Maddie’s place. Bye. I love you. Mom”
It is currently Friday afternoon, and I was supposed to go to a party with Maddie, which means I am required to be at her place before live, but instead I just laid on my bed like a dead whale

“Hi Cara, you are looking great today. She was dressed in a blue turtleneck dress that hugged her body. Her blond hair, like that of Maddie, was tied up in a bun with two strands by the side. She looked flawless with no hint of blemishes.
“Yeah, mom, why are you all dressed up?” Alec asked. Both siblings stared at their mom, almost drilling a hole into her skull.

Their dad had left when Maddie was ten years old and Aler was just a few months old. Apparently, he had been seeing his secretary for years and fell in love with her. So he left his other family for his so–called secretary.
