Chapter 5
On the other side, almost two days had passed, but the number one trending topic was still “Charlotte Gomez Retires from the Entertainment Industry.”
Fans were crying, flooding Mason’s Twitter with questions, demanding to know what was going on.
But Mason himself stood alone in a disheveled living room.
In his rage, every piece of glass and vase in sight had been destroyed.
But the document placed in the middle of the low coffee table remained untouched.
The bold, black, capitalized words “Divorce Agreement” on the cover stood out clearly.
Mason’s face was flushed red, his hand clenched into a fist at his
side.
His mind was filled with fury, and he kicked the already–slanted sofa with all his might.
Outside the door, the assistant, Zake, with a fawning expression, lowered his voice and spoke, “Ms. Sterling, to be honest with you, Mr. Whitmore hasn’t given any instructions today. But we know that he usually dotes on you the most, so we took the

liberty to bring you here.
“He is very upset right now, so please be cautious when you speak once you go in.”

He anxiously gave his last piece of advice before finally opening the tightly shut door.
Harper, already having a good sense of the situation from the trending topic on social media, was in a good mood.
She smiled slightly, not even sparing a glance at Zake.
With the click of her high heels, she walked confidently into the
room.
The sound of her heels echoed in the empty house, and in that moment, Mason instinctively mocked, “Aren’t you getting a divorce? Why are you back so soon? I thought you had some backbone…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Harper emerged from the foyer.
“Mason, I heard someone say you…”
“Get out!”
Harper was startled, her words choking in her throat before she could finish.
She looked at the disheveled man before her in surprise, a trace

of fear creeping into her eyes.
But Mason’s anger had just begun to surface.
“This is my home with Charlotte. Who gave you the right to come in?
“Get out!”
She was caught off guard yet still managed to steady herself.
Taking a few more steps toward him, she spoke again.
“Mason, I know you’re upset right now. But if you ask me, Charlotte is really out of line! How can a married woman just take her child and leave without a word?
“She’s probably been seeing someone else outside…”
Before she could finish her words, Mason slapped her in the face.
In his fury, the man showed no restraint in his strength.
It sent Harper stumbling, losing her balance, and crashing uncontrollably into the nearby island countertop.
“Mason…”
She covered her face with her hands, hoping to gain sympathy with tears in her eyes.

But when Mason stepped closer with a cold expression, a wave of uncontrollable fear rose in her heart.
He gripped her chin tightly, his fingers digging into her skin with such force it felt like he could crush her jawbone.
“This is my and Charlotte’s home. What right do you, a mistress, have to come here and disgust us?”
Harper trembled uncontrollably, tears rolling down her face.
“I… I’m just worried about you…
“Mason, I am your first love! First come, first served… How… how could you call me a mistress?”
The more she spoke, the more aggrieved she became, as though the one being wronged was her.
“I have been married to Charlotte for five years. Who do you think you are?”
Mason gritted his teeth as he spoke, his eyes turning red with increasing hatred. The hand that was originally pinching her chin had already grabbed her neck.
“If it weren’t for you causing a scene in front of her that day… If it weren’t for you, this shameless, despicable woman! Charlotte wouldn’t be demanding a divorce from me!”
Consumed by rage, his hand tightened further, and Harper’s face gradually turned red.
The instinct for survival made her slap his hands repeatedly, and she struggled to make a cry for help.
“Mason… Baby… I still have a baby…”
Upon hearing her words, he instinctively let go of his hand.
During the ten months of waiting for Anna’s birth, he gently touched Charlotte’s increasingly round belly and called out “Baby” over and over again.
Now, he suddenly realized.
It turned out that they were his only treasures.
But where were they?
In that moment of realization, it was as though all his strength had been drained away.
Weakly, he staggered back a few steps and collapsed onto the sofa.
In the vast, empty villa, only the sound of Harper’s incessant
coughing remained.
