I pretended to be my sister and looked after her blind fiancé for a hefty sum of five hundred grand.
When he finally regained his sight, I vanished without a word.
Fate brought us together again at a press conference.
I was just a nobody journalist, and he had risen to power in the wealthy Sinclair family.
“We heard your fiancée took great care of you when you were sick. Can we expect a wedding soon?”

I sat there, trying to smile while digging my nails into my palms.
Then Otis Turner, my senior at work, turned around.
“Hazel, can you get me some water?”
As I walked towards the water dispenser by the door, it suddenly swung open.
And there he was, someone I knew so well. Adrian Sinclair.
In just three years, he had completely transformed.
He was taller, stronger, and looked more mature.
His once clear and bright eyes now seemed distant.
“Excuse me,” he said flatly, glancing at me as if I were a
stranger.
He walked onto the stage with a group of bodyguards. surrounding him.
As he passed by me, a familiar woody scent filled the air.
I stood there frozen for a few seconds before snapping back to reality.
When I was with Adrian for those two years, he was going through a rough time.
He was kicked out of the Sinclair family and went blind in a car accident, so he didn’t know what I looked like.

I mustered a forced grin and shot back, “Come on, now. She’r a mega–star. You’re just flattering me.”
