Chapter 11
I was caught off guard and turned to look at him.
He raised his left hand, showing off the plain silver ring on his finger.
The ring was cheaply made, but it still sparkled because Adrian took good care of it.
It reminded me of a day four years ago.
It was Adrian’s nineteenth birthday.
For the first eighteen years of his life, his birthdays were always extravagant and lively.
But this time, he was broke, and I was the only one there for him.
To cheer him up, I worked for two days while revising my thesis.
I spent over two hundred dollars to buy a pair of cheap couple rings.
When I got back, I grabbed his hand and slipped the ring on his finger.
Adrian couldn’t see it, but he could feel it.
His cheeks turned red, but he still asked, “What’s this?”

“Don’t call me that.”

He looked a bit awkward but caressed the cheap silver ring on
his finger.
“I love it, even if it’s from the street.
“Because you gave it to me.”
Later, I realized he wasn’t joking.
Even during intimate moments, he would wear that ring.
In a husky voice, he asked me, “Do you feel it? It’s the love you gave me.
“Don’t worry. I won’t hurt you.”
Only then would he let go and be as wild as before.
I snapped back to reality and noticed Adrian approaching me.
“Answer my question, Hazel.”
“I have nothing to say.”
I nervously tugged at my dress and whispered, “Mr. Sinclair, made a mistake. Isn’t this ring from your fiancée, Ms. Parker?”

He smirked. “I never said where this ring came from. How did you know?”

After saying that, he stood right in front of me.
Being so close, I couldn’t avoid his gaze at all.
The crowd erupted with excitement once again.
“What does he mean? Mr. Sinclair said the person who accompanied him through the difficult time was actually the cub reporter?”
“What about Rachel?”
“Now I feel they look quite like each other…”
Rachel looked at me with hatred in her eyes, but she had to soften her tone to coax Adrian.
“Adrian, don’t be deceived by her. She has always told lies and tricked someone before…”
I closed my eyes and suppressed all the emotions surging in my heart.
When I opened them again, I could remain calm in front of Adrian.
“Yes, I gave it to you.
“At that time, I pretended to be Rachel and deceived you for two years for money.
“I left after taking the money. In fact, I have forgotten what happened.
“Since you thought that person was Rachel from the beginning, and you are engaged to her, what’s the point of retrieving it now?”
Chapter 11
Unable to say anymore, I tried to make my voice not tremble and took a few deep breaths.
Putting down the phone, I planned to leave.
The moment I turned around, my wrist was grabbed by Adrian, sending me the familiar warmth from his palm.
He said in a low voice, “Of course, it makes sense.
“You said as long as I wear the ring you gave me, you will recognize me at first glance no matter where I go.
“Do your words still count?”
His words made me on the verge of breaking down.
Lowering my eyes, I remained silent and hid all the emotions deep in my heart.
Opening his fingers little by little, I finally broke free from his grip.
I looked up at him indifferently.
“I forgot.”
