Chapter 12
Robert had heard of this school. He knew Lena had always been a good student and hadn’t caused him any trouble during her studies, but he never imagined she was this exceptional.
Even after leaving him, she was still doing well.
A wave of sadness washed over him. “When did this girl who always used to cling to me become so independent? Once I find Lena and bring her back, I’ll keep her by my side for good. I don’t want to experience this separation again.”
Robert stood straight outside the academic building, waiting for Ethan to bring Lena out..
However, when Ethan emerged, he gently shook his head.
“Mr. Ashford, Ms. Moreau processed her withdrawal papers just yesterday. No one knows where she’s gone.”
Robert stood frozen, as if struck by lightning.
“Has Lena run away again? How could this happen? She’s slipped from my grasp again! I can’t believe it! She left just as I arrived. How could there be such a coincidence?”
Robert was convinced that Lena was just angry with him and had gone into hiding.

He found her dormitory. Only when he saw the empty room did he have to accept the fact that she had left again.
Once more, she had abandoned him. She truly didn’t want him
anymore.
But who could he blame?
He was the one who hurt Lena first. This was his karma!
Robert knew how much she depended on him, yet he pushed her away out of fear of social criticism. He had also allowed Colette to hurt her time and again. Lena must have been even more heartbroken than he was now.
Waves of pain struck his heart as Robert leaned against the wall, tears falling.
He had sworn to take care of Lena forever, but he had broken that promise. Now he deserved to lose the person he loved.
But Robert wouldn’t give up. Having finally tracked her this far, he wouldn’t return home without finding her.
Things were different here than back home; he could only rely on his own efforts to search for her slowly.
Robert firmly believed that if he could find Lena, apologize to her face, and confess his feelings, she would surely return to him.
He was certain that she couldn’t bear to see him upset and

would forgive him.

Robert took up residence across from the school. He knew that only through Lena’s teachers and classmates could he discover her whereabouts.
Here, he was no longer the powerful CEO, just her fiancé trying to find out where she had gone.
At the same time, he would also inquire about her experiences at this school.
He had always seen her as a little girl, only now realizing how little he truly knew her.
Lena was more exceptional and independent than Robert had imagined.
Soon, he discovered the phone number she had been using abroad, though her whereabouts remained unknown.
But he knew that this time, he wouldn’t give up easily.
Robert specifically got a foreign SIM card and called Lena.
When the call connected, he heard the voice he had been longing for day and night.
“Lena, it’s me.”
Robert only managed these few simple words; everything else caught in his throat.

Lena paused on the other end, then replied in a flat tone.
“Oh, it’s you, Uncle Robert.”
Her indifferent lone was unbearable to Robert.

“Isn’t she surprised at all? Doesn’t she miss me? I’ve been going crazy missing her!”
“Lena! I’m not your uncle now, I’m your fiancé!”
Robert was nearly driven mad. He couldn’t allow Lena to be so distant with him!
She responded coldly: “Wasn’t our wedding already canceled? Uncle Robert, don’t you have a new marriage partner now?”
Jane had told Lena this news, and she wasn’t surprised.
However, she was somewhat taken aback that Robert was now searching for her as her fiancé.
“Didn’t we implicitly agree that our engagement was over? Perhaps I wasn’t clear when I left, and he misunderstood.”
“Uncle Robert, I was being immature before, mistaking my dependence on you for love. I also made irreversible mistakes, for which I apologize. Rest assured, from now on you’re just my uncle. I don’t have feelings for you anymore. I wish you and your future wife all the best!”

When Robert remained silent on the other end, Lena hung up.
She didn’t know that he wasn’t speechless–he was too heartbroken to speak.
Robert took several deep breaths while holding the phone, finally easing the unbearable sorrow.
He had anticipated that finding Lena wouldn’t be easy, but he was grateful just to have spoken with her.
He would persist until she returned with him.
