Chapter 13
Robert pursued Lena relentlessly, which annoyed her to no end.
She thought she had made herself clear, and he should have understood.
But he insisted on pursuing her and said he would propose to
her.
What Lena had fantasized about countless times was finally happening, just when she had given up on their relationship.
She finally understood that her love had indeed been a burden to Robert, because now she was experiencing that same burden herself.
She could only clearly state her position and ask him to give up, but he was stubborn and wouldn’t listen at all.
Concerned about interfering with her studies, he only called her during meal times.
Each of his calls was a sincere plea for forgiveness.
“Lena, I know you’re still angry! And you should be. I was definitely wrong. I regret it now. I want to formally apologize and beg for your forgiveness!
“I’ll keep asking until you forgive me!”
Afraid she wouldn’t believe him, he even swore on his life.

“Lena, if I’m lying about anything, may I get hit by a car when I go out, or be diagnosed with a terminal illness at a young age!
“Actually, I regretted it the day you left! I should have acknowledged my love for you sooner, instead of letting that b*tch Colette hurt you repeatedly!
“But I’ve made her pay the price she deserves. From now on, 1 won’t have contact with any woman except you. I promise I’ll be completely devoted to you!
“So please, forgive me this once and come back to me! I really can’t live without you. I love you, Lena!”
Robert was moved by his own heartfelt confession; he had never begged a woman like this before.
Now, even if Lena asked him to apologize publicly, he would do it.
He would do anything to get her back.
But on the other end of the phone, Lena didn’t show the emotion he had imagined.
Instead, she sighed impatiently, “Uncle Robert, when did you become so annoying?”
Lena couldn’t understand why Robert had become so childish.

Before, when she loved him and liked to be around him, it was because she found him mature and stable, someone who gave her a sense of security,
But now she realized he was no different from her male classmates–proud and immature,
Especially some of his childish behaviors were truly ridiculous.
However, Lena had deeply reflected on herself and realized she had been immature too. She had actually confessed to Robert on her eighteenth birthday and ended up doing something so
outrageous.
Although she didn’t know why he suddenly loved her instead of Colette this time, this wasn’t what she wanted. This time she needed to stay away from him.
Lena was just stating her opinion, but it exploded in Robert’s mind.
He thought he had misheard.
Lena actually said he was annoying!
Robert’s voice trembled. He had already humbled himself to apologize, yet she still wouldn’t forgive him.
“Lena, what do I need to do for you to forgive me?”
His voice was choked with tears. A boundless sense of defeat

“Uncle Robert, I forgave you long ago. I told you before, I
was the one who was wrong. I shouldn’t have developed inappropriate feelings for you.
“You’ve forgiven me for the trouble I caused you back then, so of course I won’t hold anything against you either!”
Lena’s casual tone filled Robert with joy.
She had forgiven him!
He jumped up excitedly, feeling as if the sunshine had suddenly become brighter.
“Lena, where are you? I’ll come pick you up and bring you home right away!”
